globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

February 1, 2026

Description

The O’Shaughnessy Fellowships & Grants are now accepting applications for the 2026 cohort. This is a global call for builders, researchers, and creatives working on ambitious ideas that can meaningfully advance civilization. The Fellowship at a Glance The O’Shaughnessy Fellowship is a one-year, equity-free program designed to give exceptional individuals the freedom to pursue transformative work without institutional constraints. Fellows receive: $100,000 in funding 12 months of focused time 0% equity taken No corporate oversight No required deliverables, committees, or thesis approvals Full ownership of all outcomes The program is built on trust. Fellows are selected for their judgment, initiative, and capacity to execute — not for their credentials or affiliations. Who Should Apply This call for applications is open to individuals across all disciplines and geographies. Past Fellows and Grantees have come from over 160 countries and represent fields as diverse as quantum computing, documentary filmmaking, prosthetic engineering, endangered language preservation, music, biology, artificial intelligence, and design. The Fellowship is designed for individuals who demonstrate: Self-Directed Initiative Builders who create without waiting for permission Individuals who have consistently taken action without external validation Prolific Problem Solving A track record of shipping meaningful work Evidence of solving real problems, whether through research, art, or technology Relentless Resourcefulness The ability to make progress with limited resources Strong judgment, adaptability, and persistence in the face of obstacles Formal credentials are not required. The program prioritizes what applicants have done, not where they studied or who they know. What Fellows Are Building Over the past three years, more than 75 Fellows and Grantees have been funded. Their work includes: Synthetic biology and cellular engineering Affordable prosthetics and assistive technologies Research into biological aging and genome maintenance Preservation of endangered languages and cultures AI-driven art, filmmaking, and immersive media Novel manufacturing techniques and materials Global music and media projects reaching millions Many recipients describe the Fellowship as a catalytic moment — providing belief, resources, and momentum at a critical stage. Application Timeline (2026) Applicants should expect a multi-stage review process designed to understand both the idea and the individual behind it. Stage 1: Application Window January 1 – April 30, 2026 Applications reviewed on a rolling basis Most applicants receive updates within 30 days Stage 2: Introductory Conversations February 1 – May 30, 2026 Shortlisted applicants meet with the OSV team Focus on vision, problem-solving approach, and ambition Stage 3: Deeper Conversations Through May 30, 2026 Additional discussions with team members and extended network Final selections announced by June 1, 2026 The Grants Program Not every world-changing idea requires a full year of funding. In addition to ten Fellowships, the program also awards grants to exceptional applicants. Grants include: Up to 20 awards At least $10,000 per recipient Access to the OSV network of founders, investors, and experts All Fellowship applicants are automatically considered for the Grants program. Why This Matters Now The tools for innovation are more accessible than ever. Geography is no longer a barrier. Credentialism is losing relevance. What matters is execution. The Fellowship offers something increasingly rare: Freedom to experiment Security to take risks Capital without debt or dilution Recipients retain 100% ownership of their work, enabling them to pursue ambitious ideas without compromising long-term vision. Apply Now The O’Shaughnessy Fellowships & Grants invite individuals ready to take responsibility for shaping the future to apply. Applications close April 30, 2026.One year. $100,000.
