Rotary International offers one of the world’s most respected global fellowship programmes for peace and development leaders. Each year, Rotary awards up to 170 fully funded Peace Fellowships to dedicated professionals from around the world to study at one of its eight Rotary Peace Centers. Through rigorous academic training, practical field experience, and access to a global professional network, the Rotary Peace Centers programme builds the capacity of peacebuilders to become effective catalysts for sustainable peace and development in their communities and beyond. Programme Overview Established in 2002, the Rotary Peace Centers programme has trained more than 1,800 Peace Fellows who now work in over 140 countries. Alumni serve in leadership roles across governments, non-governmental organizations, research and education institutions, peacekeeping and law enforcement agencies, and major international bodies such as the United Nations and the World Bank. The fellowship is designed for professionals with experience in peace and development who are committed to community service, conflict resolution, and international cooperation. What the Fellowship Covers The Rotary Peace Fellowship is fully funded and includes comprehensive financial support to enable Fellows to focus entirely on their studies and fieldwork. The fellowship covers: Tuition and university fees Room and board Round-trip international transportation Internship and field-study expenses This support ensures equitable access for qualified candidates regardless of financial background. Fellowship Program Options Rotary offers two distinct fellowship pathways to accommodate professionals at different stages of their careers. Master’s Degree Programmes The Master’s degree programmes provide in-depth academic study in peace, conflict resolution, and development. Fellows benefit from research-informed teaching and a diverse, international student body. Key features include: Programme duration of 15 to 24 months Study at one of Rotary’s partner universities A two- to three-month field study, designed and implemented by the Fellow Emphasis on applied research and real-world impact These programmes are ideal for individuals seeking advanced academic credentials alongside practical experience. Professional Development Certificate Programme The Professional Development Certificate Programme is a one-year blended learning programme designed for experienced professionals who wish to strengthen their practical peacebuilding skills while continuing their careers. Programme highlights: Targeted at working peace and development professionals Focus on applied learning and leadership development Completion of a field study Design and implementation of a social change initiative Postgraduate-level certification This option is particularly suited to professionals seeking to expand their impact without stepping away from their current roles. Application Timeline The 2027–2028 Rotary Peace Fellowship application cycle is now open. Supporting the Rotary Peace Centers The Rotary Peace Centers programme is made possible through the generosity of donors and Rotary members worldwide. Ways to support include: Making a financial contribution to support future Peace Fellows Promoting the Peace Fellowship programme within professional and community networks Recruiting and mentoring potential applicants Allocating District Designated Funds (for Rotary members), with districts encouraged to contribute at least USD $25,000 annually Through this collective support, Rotary continues to invest in the next generation of global peacebuilders. Impact and Global Reach Rotary Peace Center alumni work across sectors and regions, applying their training to real-world challenges. Their collective impact spans conflict resolution, humanitarian response, governance reform, gender equality, refugee support, and community reconciliation. The programme’s emphasis on global collaboration and locally driven peacebuilding ensures that Fellows are equipped to translate theory into meaningful, lasting action.
