The Think Visegrad Fellowship 2026 Call is officially open, providing researchers, policy experts, analysts, and think-tank professionals with an opportunity to engage in strategic regional dialogue and collaborative policy development across Central Europe. Coordinated by the Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (RC SFPA), the Think Visegrad platform continues to strengthen intellectual cooperation among institutions within the Visegrad Group (V4). The initiative operates with support from the International Visegrad Fund and has become one of the region’s most significant collaborative policy and research networks since its establishment in 2012. About the Think Visegrad Platform Think Visegrad serves as a structured platform for policy dialogue, regional cooperation, and strategic analysis among think tanks and academic institutions in the Visegrad region. The platform was established to deepen cooperation among policy institutions in Central Europe while supporting evidence-based policymaking across the V4 countries: Czech Republic Hungary Poland Slovakia The formation of the network was initially proposed during the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group in 2011–2012. The idea reflected a shared commitment among Central European research institutions to promote stronger regional cohesion, intellectual exchange, and collaborative policy solutions. Today, Think Visegrad functions as a major policy-oriented network focused on producing analytical materials, policy recommendations, and strategic insights for governments, annual V4 presidencies, and regional stakeholders. Key Areas of Focus The Think Visegrad platform addresses a wide range of strategic regional and international issues affecting Central Europe and the broader European landscape. Core thematic priorities include: Energy security European Union institutions and policymaking Internal cohesion within the Visegrad Group Migration and mobility Hard security and defense policy Environmental protection Development assistance Relations with Eastern Partnership countries Western Balkans cooperation Transport and infrastructure Roma-related policy issues Democratic governance and regional stability Through research collaboration and fellowship activities, the platform seeks to provide informed recommendations and policy solutions that strengthen regional cooperation and contribute to European policy debates. Core Members of Think Visegrad The Think Visegrad network is composed of several leading research institutes and policy organizations across the V4 region. These institutions play a central role in coordinating research projects, fellowship programmes, and analytical outputs. Core members include: Central European Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS) Center for Euro-Atlantic Integration and Democracy (CEID) Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW) EUROPEUM – Institute for European Policy Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA) Institute of International Relations (IIR) The Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) Research Center of the Slovak Foreign Policy Association These founding institutions continue to guide the strategic direction of the network while facilitating broader cooperation with additional research centers, universities, and policy organizations. Cooperation with Academic and Research Institutions Think Visegrad operates as an open platform that collaborates extensively with universities, think tanks, and civil society organizations throughout Europe. Partner institutions contribute to policy research, analytical publications, conferences, fellowship exchanges, and strategic dialogues. Participating and cooperating institutions include organizations from: Czech Republic Aspen Institute Association for International Affairs (AMO) Charles University Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI) Masaryk University University of Economics University of Hradec Králové Hungary Central European University Corvinus University National University of Public Service University of Pecs Centre for Strategic and Defence Studies Poland Warsaw University Warsaw School of Economics Polish Academy of Sciences Institute of Public Affairs Collegium Civitas University Kosciuzko Institute Slovakia Comenius University Euractiv.sk Institute for Economic and Social Studies Pontis Foundation Slovak Security Policy Institute The platform also collaborates internationally with institutions such as the London School of Economics. Think Visegrad Fellowship Programme 2026 The Think Visegrad Fellowship Programme remains one of the initiative’s flagship activities. The programme supports fellows conducting policy-oriented research focused on the priorities and challenges facing the Visegrad region and Europe. The fellowship creates opportunities for: Cross-border academic cooperation Policy research and analysis Networking with regional experts Development of policy recommendations Participation in regional conferences and dialogues Researchers and policy professionals selected for the programme contribute analytical outputs that support informed decision-making and strengthen regional policy coordination.
