Amnesty International Kenya invites applications for the position of Youth Delegate to represent the Kenyan section at the Regional Forum and Global Assembly 2026. This two-year leadership opportunity, extending through 2027, provides young people with a platform to influence global human rights policy, amplify youth voices, and contribute to international governance within Amnesty International. The role is designed for young leaders passionate about human rights and eager to engage in high-level decision-making. Candidates will be expected to actively participate in strategic discussions, advocate for youth priorities, and mentor future delegates. Role Overview The Youth Delegate will serve as a key representative of Kenyan youth, ensuring that their perspectives are included in global conversations and decisions. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with international human rights leaders, participate in policy shaping, and enhance youth participation in governance processes. Key responsibilities include: Participating in national preparation meetings leading up to the Regional Forum and Global Assembly. Engaging in both online and in-person leadership workshops facilitated by Amnesty International’s Global Children and Youth Team. Representing the perspectives, priorities, and concerns of Kenyan young people in international discussions. Attending the Regional Forum in 2026 and the Global Assembly in August 2026. Sharing insights and lessons learned with local Circles of Conscience (COCs) to strengthen youth engagement and participation. Mentoring the subsequent Youth Delegate in 2027, ensuring continuity and knowledge transfer. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for this role: Be 22 years old or younger. Be a registered member of Amnesty International Kenya. Actively participate in a local Circle of Conscience (COC). Be available for all training and preparation sessions scheduled from January to July 2026. Commit to serving as Youth Delegate for the full two-year term (2026–2027). Demonstrate a strong interest in human rights, youth leadership, governance, and advocacy. Exhibit effective communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to represent diverse youth perspectives. Uphold the core values of Amnesty International, including courage, integrity, solidarity, accountability, and inclusion. This role is best suited for individuals ready to take on responsibility, engage in meaningful advocacy, and contribute to shaping global human rights initiatives. Application Requirements Interested candidates must submit the following materials to be considered: Motivation Statement: A short essay (maximum 500 words) detailing why the applicant wishes to serve as Youth Delegate. This statement should reflect passion for human rights, leadership aspirations, and commitment to youth advocacy. Curriculum Vitae (CV): A concise CV of no more than two pages, highlighting relevant experiences, skills, and achievements. COC Membership Confirmation: A recommendation from the applicant’s Circle of Conscience chairperson, confirming active participation in local youth activities. Selection and Commitment Successful candidates will be selected based on their demonstrated passion for human rights, leadership potential, and alignment with Amnesty International’s values. Throughout the two-year term, the Youth Delegate will play a critical role in strengthening youth participation within Amnesty International Kenya, sharing experiences and knowledge with peers, and mentoring future delegates to ensure sustainable youth engagement.
