The Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) is inviting applications for the position of Event Coordinator (Consultant) for the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF) 2027. This opportunity is open to women in all their diversities, particularly those from minority and marginalized communities across Asia and the Pacific, who possess strong experience in event coordination, feminist organizing, and human rights advocacy. The consultancy provides a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the region’s most significant feminist gatherings, bringing together activists, scholars, advocates, and civil society leaders committed to advancing women’s human rights and Development Justice. Consultancy Duration: 20 Months (April 2026 – December 2027) Application Deadline: 30 March 2026 Location: Remote (Home Country) with frequent travel to Chiang Mai, Thailand The selected consultant will collaborate closely with the APWLD Secretariat and its regional membership network to organize and deliver a transformative feminist forum that strengthens movement-building and regional solidarity. About the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF) The Asia Pacific Feminist Forum (APFF) serves as a critical regional platform for feminist movements to: Celebrate collective achievements in advancing women’s rights Reflect on evolving political, economic, and social challenges Strengthen feminist knowledge, leadership, and organizing strategies Build solidarity across movements and borders The forum brings together a wide range of participants, including: Feminist activists Women human rights defenders Academics and researchers Lawyers and policy advocates Civil society leaders and international allies Hosted in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the forum provides a collaborative space for feminists across Asia and the Pacific to share resources, develop strategies, and collectively challenge structural systems that perpetuate inequality, including economic injustice, climate crises, debt burdens, and human rights violations. Through dialogue, workshops, and collective action, APFF aims to strengthen feminist movements and amplify advocacy for Development Justice and gender equality. Role of the Event Coordinator The Event Coordinator will play a central role in planning and implementing the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2027. The consultant will provide leadership in organizing the event while ensuring effective coordination across APWLD teams, partners, and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: Leading the overall coordination and organization of APFF 2027 Developing the forum concept note, program structure, and implementation timeline Managing event planning processes, including logistics, budget oversight, and scheduling Coordinating with the APFF Organising Committee and APWLD Secretariat on event strategy and delivery Supporting the selection of speakers, participants, and workshop facilitators The coordinator will also collaborate across multiple teams to ensure the event’s success: Communications Team: Develop a media and communications strategy for the forum Knowledge and Publications Team: Produce event-related publications and resource materials Finance Team: Assist with budget preparation and financial reporting Administrative Team: Coordinate logistics including venue arrangements, travel, accessibility needs, and interpretation services Additional responsibilities include: Supervising interns, volunteers, and staff involved in event preparation Managing logistical arrangements for international participants Supporting monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes for the forum Producing comprehensive post-event reports, including recommendations and follow-up actions Selection Criteria Applicants must demonstrate strong experience and commitment to feminist movement-building and event coordination. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies: Professional Experience Proven experience coordinating events for feminist, human rights, or civil society organizations Experience organizing national, regional, or international events Strong project management skills including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation Education A degree in one of the following or related fields: Social or political science Law and human rights Development studies Women’s or gender studies Communications Knowledge and Expertise Deep understanding of political, economic, and socio-cultural dynamics in Asia and the Pacific Demonstrated commitment to advancing women’s human rights and feminist organizing Experience working with membership-based organizations and social movements Skills and Competencies Strong administrative and budget management skills Ability to work in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities Proficiency in ICT tools, including social media and Google Workspace Strong coordination and teamwork abilities Excellent written and spoken English communication skills Ability to build relationships in multicultural and diverse environments Applicants must also be able to travel internationally, with extended stays expected in Chiang Mai, Thailand closer to the event date. Remuneration and Consultancy Terms The selected consultant will receive: Monthly Consultancy Fee: USD $2,000 Contract Duration: 20 months (April 2026 – December 2027) The consultant will work remotely from their home country while maintaining regular coordination with the APWLD Secretariat and traveling to Thailand as required for event preparation and implementation.
