Applications are now open for the Women in Agriculture Leadership Program, an initiative designed to empower the next generation of African women leaders in agricultural research. The fellowship aims to strengthen the leadership capacity of women scientists working to develop climate-responsive agrifood systems across Africa. About the Women in Agriculture Leadership Program The Women in Agriculture Leadership Program is part of the Africa–Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture. It focuses on increasing the participation and influence of African women scientists in climate-resilient agricultural research. The program seeks to build the capability, confidence, and leadership skills of women researchers so they can play a stronger role in shaping sustainable agricultural innovations that support both women and men smallholder farmers. Fellowship Opportunities for African Women Scientists Through this fellowship, 100 mid-career African women scientists will receive: Leadership development training Professional mentorship opportunities Access to international research collaborations Networking with agricultural and climate experts across countries The program aims to strengthen the ability of participants to lead research and innovation in climate-resilient agriculture and agrifood systems. Program Structure The initiative follows a two-track approach: Career Development Fellowship TrackThis track supports individual researchers through leadership training, mentoring partnerships, and technical development. Institutional Strengthening TrackThis component works with National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) and other institutions to integrate gender-responsive policies and practices that support climate-resilient agriculture. Overall, the program will benefit up to 300 participants, including fellows, mentors, and mentees. Eligible Countries Women researchers from the following countries are eligible to apply: Egypt Ghana Morocco Nigeria Senegal Sierra Leone VISIT HERE TO APPLY Participants may come from national agricultural research systems, ministries of agriculture, and academic institutions working in agriculture and climate-related research. Program Partners The fellowship is implemented by African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) in partnership with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). The program is supported through the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the Africa–Australia Partnership for Climate Responsive Agriculture.
