Fellowship Overview The Toufik’s World Medical Association Research Fellowship is a one-year program designed to provide rigorous research training, mentorship, and collaborative opportunities in several key areas of medical science. Selected fellows will actively participate in research projects, produce peer-reviewed publications, and engage in scientific discussions under expert supervision. Fellows are expected to demonstrate consistent research output, including the publication of at least one manuscript every four months. Manuscripts will be developed in collaboration with TWMA mentors and reviewed by the Association’s Research and Advisory Board, which will also make the final decisions regarding journal submissions. Fellowship Tracks Applicants may choose from one of the following seven specialized cohorts based on their academic and professional background: Cardiology – focusing on cardiovascular research, innovations in cardiac care, and disease prevention. Cardiothoracic Surgery – addressing advancements in surgical interventions and patient outcomes. Neurology – exploring neurological disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and emerging treatments. Neurosurgery – emphasizing research in operative techniques, recovery outcomes, and neuroanatomical innovations. Oncology – investigating cancer biology, therapy advancements, and global cancer prevention strategies. Gastroenterology – focusing on digestive system diseases, clinical management, and translational research. Global Health – a multidisciplinary track delivered in partnership with Toufik’s World Organization, the association’s public health division, targeting population health challenges, epidemiology, and international health policy. Each cohort provides a unique platform for in-depth research, critical analysis, and publication experience tailored to the fellow’s field of study. Eligibility Criteria To qualify for the 2025–2026 TWMA Research Fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements: Hold a post-secondary degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate) in a relevant discipline. Demonstrate experience in academic research, including proposal development, data analysis, and scholarly writing. Possess a strong academic or professional background in the chosen fellowship field. Exhibit commitment, discipline, and the ability to meet deadlines throughout the fellowship duration. Be capable of working both independently and collaboratively in an international research environment. The fellowship encourages applications from diverse academic and geographic backgrounds. Candidates with a proven record of initiative, analytical thinking, and publication experience are especially encouraged to apply. Fellowship Structure and Expectations The program runs for one full year (2025–2026). During this period, fellows will: Conduct research under the mentorship of senior TWMA researchers and advisors.
