The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership program that takes place on university and college campuses across the globe. It is a collaborative initiative of UNAI—an organization connecting higher education institutions with the United Nations—and MCN, a global student leadership network dedicated to advancing sustainable development and social good. Through the Fellowship, undergraduate students work in teams, known as Millennium Fellowship cohorts, to: Design, implement, or scale projects that address pressing global challenges. Receive guidance from UNAI and MCN staff, as well as faculty advisors. Participate in structured leadership development sessions. Measure and reflect on their collective social impact. The Fellowship emphasizes values-based leadership, encouraging participants to build inclusive, ethical, and community-centered approaches to solving global problems. Fellowship Structure The Millennium Fellowship runs for one academic semester (approximately August to December). During this period, fellows: Meet regularly with their campus cohort for facilitated sessions. Participate in a leadership curriculum that includes goal setting, ethics in leadership, project management, and impact measurement. Collaborate with peers to support one another’s social impact projects. Engage in reflection and reporting exercises to document progress and outcomes. At the conclusion of the program, fellows submit a Final Report detailing their leadership growth and project achievements. Those who fulfill all requirements receive official recognition from UNAI and MCN. Eligibility The Millennium Fellowship is open to undergraduate students worldwide who: Are enrolled in a recognized higher education institution. Are passionate about advancing social impact, sustainability, or community development. Are willing to collaborate with other student leaders on campus. Commit to participating for the full semester and contributing to cohort activities. There are no fees to apply or participate in the Fellowship. Selection is competitive and based on demonstrated leadership potential, commitment to impact, and alignment with the program’s values.
