The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, through Carnegie India, is inviting applications for the Young Ambassador – Technology and Society Program. This one-year professional development opportunity is designed for early-career individuals interested in research-driven policymaking and technology policy. The selected candidate will work full-time at Carnegie India’s office in New Delhi, India, contributing to research, events, and policy initiatives from May 2026 to May 2027. Program Overview The Carnegie India Young Ambassadors Program (CIYAP) provides emerging professionals with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in policy research and analysis within a leading global think tank. The program is structured to help participants understand how research informs policymaking while building the professional skills needed for careers in public policy, international relations, and technology governance. Key program details include: Duration: May 2026 – May 2027 Location: In-person at Carnegie India, New Delhi Position Type: Full-time fellowship/early career program Application Deadline: April 1, 2026 (EST) Purpose of the Program The Young Ambassadors Program aims to nurture future policy leaders by providing exposure to interdisciplinary research and global policy discussions. The program enables participants to: Observe and understand research-based policymaking Engage with experts working on regional and global policy issues Develop analytical and leadership skills Gain experience within a global think-tank environment Participants will work alongside scholars and researchers while contributing to projects that shape discussions around emerging technologies and global governance. Key Learning Opportunities Participants in the program will gain exposure to several aspects of policy research and professional development. The program allows young ambassadors to: Engage with policy experts from India and around the world Contribute to research projects and policy analysis Participate in global think-tank activities and programming Collaborate with a diverse network of young leaders Develop professional skills such as critical thinking, analytical writing, and leadership The program also offers opportunities to build networks within the broader Carnegie global network, including offices in **Washington, D.C., Brussels, Beirut, Berlin, California, and Singapore. Areas of Research The selected Young Ambassador will work with the Technology and Society Program, focusing on critical global technology policy issues. Potential research areas include: Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Cybersecurity policy Space policy and governance Semiconductor supply chains Critical minerals and technology resources Subsea cable infrastructure Nuclear energy and technology policy Defense innovation and emerging technologies Data governance and digital regulation Participants will assist in producing research outputs, policy briefs, and event-related materials. Key Responsibilities The Young Ambassador will provide both research and operational support across several Carnegie India initiatives. Responsibilities may include: Conducting background research on technology policy issues Assisting scholars with ongoing policy projects Supporting editorial and writing tasks Preparing research notes and policy documentation Helping organize events and policy dialogues The ambassador will also support major events hosted by Carnegie India, including: The Global Technology Summit (GTS) The Global Technology Summit Innovation Dialogue The Security Studies Dialogue These events bring together policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and global experts to discuss emerging technology and policy issues. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet the following requirements: Be a recent graduate in any discipline Demonstrate interest in fields such as: Technology policy Artificial intelligence Law Economics Public policy or related disciplines Be willing to work full-time in person in New Delhi The program encourages candidates who are passionate about public policy and interested in understanding the intersection between technology, governance, and society. Additional Preferences Carnegie India prioritizes expanding policy opportunities beyond major metropolitan areas. Therefore: Preference may be given to applicants from non-metropolitan cities in India The program aims to broaden participation in the public policy ecosystem The selection process is merit-based and committed to equal opportunity.
