Founded in 2010, CDP partners with individuals, foundations, and corporations to strengthen disaster response and address the systemic causes of vulnerability worldwide. Key organisational highlights include: A $40 million annual operating budget Over $16 million awarded in grants in 2024 alone More than $43 million raised in philanthropic support in 2024 A remote team of 30+ professionals across the United States Recognition from Charity Navigator, Candid, the Better Business Bureau, and CNN Heroes CDP is deeply grounded in racial and intersectional equity, guided by values of integrity, innovation, humility, and empathy. Role Overview The Development Associate – Donor Engagement plays a pivotal operational role within CDP’s Development team. Reporting to the Director of Donor Engagement, the position supports high-quality donor stewardship, accurate data management, and seamless coordination across internal teams. This role is central to ensuring a best-in-class donor experience, from tracking gift commitments to delivering timely, accurate, and compelling donor reports. It is well-suited to a detail-oriented professional with strong project management skills and a passion for mission-driven fundraising. Role Purpose The Development Associate supports CDP’s donor engagement strategy by: Ensuring operational excellence across the donor lifecycle Maintaining high standards of donor data integrity Supporting accurate, timely donor reporting and stewardship Strengthening internal systems that enable sustainable revenue growth This role directly contributes to CDP’s goals of expanding its donor base, increasing revenue, and building long-term philanthropic partnerships. Key Responsibilities Donor Reporting and Communication The Development Associate supports donor stewardship through: Coordinating timelines for donor reports and stewardship deliverables Ensuring timely delivery of accurate, high-quality reports to funders Collaborating with Marketing & Communications on editing, formatting, and storytelling Working with Program teams to gather qualitative and quantitative data Ensuring all donor-facing communications reflect CDP’s values and equity commitments Gift Implementation and Deliverables Tracking The role ensures donor commitments are fulfilled by: Leading cross-functional tracking of donor deliverables Applying strong project management skills to manage timelines and dependencies Maintaining systems to track milestones, deadlines, and next steps Documenting stewardship actions such as thank-you letters, impact updates, and engagement calls Identifying risks or delays and proactively resolving issues with internal stakeholders Donor Data Integrity and CRM Management Data accuracy and usability are core to this role, including: Maintaining donor records in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT (RENXT) Accurately tracking donor interactions, meetings, and engagement activities Supporting consistent data standards across donor records Producing or supporting analysis of donor engagement trends Contributing to improvements in data processes, tools, and documentation Collaboration and Team Engagement As part of a fully remote organisation, the Development Associate: Collaborates closely with Development, Finance, Program, and Communications teams Supports a culture of accountability, equity, and shared ownership Participates in 2–3 in-person staff retreats per year (3–5 days each) May support donor engagement events, conferences, or convenings Required Qualifications The successful candidate typically brings: At least 2 years of experience in development, fundraising, or donor relations Demonstrated experience supporting donor stewardship and operational processes Strong organisational and project management skills Proficiency with donor databases and fundraising software Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating across teams Preferred Qualifications Additional strengths include: Direct experience with Blackbaud RENXT and Kindsight Familiarity with restricted funding and donor reporting requirements Experience using project management tools Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe tools Personal Attributes CDP values candidates who demonstrate: Commitment to equity-driven philanthropy High attention to detail and data accuracy Comfort navigating ambiguity and complex workflows Collaborative mindset and relationship-building skills Curiosity, adaptability, and a sense of humour Non-traditional career paths are welcomed.
