Organisation: Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD)Location: Dhaka, BangladeshPosition Type: Regular appointment (with probation) About The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) is a leading independent think tank dedicated to advancing policy research, dialogue, and advocacy on key economic and development issues. CPD plays a critical role in supporting evidence-based policymaking in Bangladesh through rigorous research, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination of policy-relevant knowledge. As part of its ongoing research and programme expansion, CPD is seeking to recruit a Research Fellow to contribute to its work on economic policy, with a focus on Macroeconomics, Development Economics, and International Economics. Position Overview The Research Fellow position requires strong academic grounding, analytical depth, and a demonstrated ability to contribute to high-quality policy research. The role is suited to mid-level professionals with a solid background in economics and experience in independently conducting and supervising research. The selected candidate will be entrusted with key responsibilities within CPD’s ongoing research programmes and will contribute to the development of new research initiatives aligned with CPD’s strategic priorities. Key Responsibilities The Research Fellow will be responsible for the following core functions: Research and Analysis Contribute substantively to CPD’s ongoing research programmes in: Macroeconomics Development Economics International Economics Design, conduct, and manage applied policy research studies Produce high-quality research outputs, including: Policy briefs Working papers Journal articles Book chapters and monographs Ensure academic rigour and policy relevance across all research outputs Programme Delivery and Management Lead and support the delivery of research programmes from inception to completion Supervise and mentor junior researchers and research associates Oversee research timelines, deliverables, and quality standards Contribute to the preparation and management of research budgets where applicable Proposal Development and Resource Mobilisation Develop competitive research proposals aligned with CPD’s thematic priorities Identify funding opportunities and support donor engagement activities Contribute to reporting requirements for funded research projects Stakeholder Engagement and Networking Build and maintain professional networks with: Academic and research institutions Government agencies and policymakers Development partners and professional bodies Represent CPD in policy dialogues, workshops, seminars, and conferences Contribute to CPD’s dialogue and outreach activities to promote evidence-based policymaking Required Qualifications and Experience Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: A Master’s degree in Economics from a reputed university A minimum of six (6) years of research experience in economics or related policy research fields At least two (2) publications in: Peer-reviewed academic journals, or Chapters in books or monographs published by reputable publishing houses For candidates holding a PhD in Economics or a related field, some of the above requirements may be relaxed.
