Change Makers Micro-grant Program: Round 3 Applications are Now open!
globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

May 19, 2026

Description

Helping Hands has officially launched Round 3 of its highly anticipated Change Makers Micro-Grant Program an initiative designed to empower young Canadians to transform bold ideas into meaningful community impact. With applications now open, the program is once again offering a powerful platform for youth aged 15 to 29 who are passionate about building stronger, more inclusive, and volunteer-driven communities across Canada. At its core, the Change Makers Micro-Grant Program is about action. It recognizes that young people are not just future leaders—they are already creating change today. By providing financial support, mentorship, and training, Helping Hands ensures that participants have the tools and guidance needed to bring their ideas to life and sustain long-term impact. Funding Opportunities to Match Every Vision In this round, Helping Hands will distribute 20 micro-grants of up to $5,000 each. The funding is structured across three tiers, allowing applicants to scale their ideas according to their vision and capacity: $1,000 Grants are designed for small-scale projects that can be executed individually or with a partner. These projects typically focus on localized impact, such as launching a community garden or hosting a youth art workshop. They are ideal for first-time changemakers looking to test and implement an idea with manageable scope. $3,000 Grants support medium-scale initiatives and require a team of at least three participants. These projects often involve broader community engagement, such as organizing a local arts festival or coordinating a job fair. This tier encourages collaboration and team-based leadership. $5,000 Grants are reserved for large-scale projects that also require a minimum of three team members. These initiatives aim for deeper, more sustained impact, with examples including organizing sporting events or developing mental health support programs. These projects often address systemic challenges and require strategic planning and execution. More Than Just Funding What sets the Helping Hands Change Makers Micro-Grant Program apart is its holistic approach. Beyond financial support, all selected participants gain access to mandatory training sessions and ongoing mentorship. These resources are designed to strengthen project planning, leadership skills, and community engagement strategies. Participants also benefit from invaluable exposure and networking opportunities. By connecting with like-minded peers, experienced mentors, and community leaders, youth are able to build relationships that extend far beyond the duration of the program. This combination of funding, education, and connection ensures that each project has the potential to create lasting change. Who Should Apply? The program is open to young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 29 who have a clear vision for a community-based project. Whether the idea focuses on environmental sustainability, arts and culture, employment, sports, or mental health, Helping Hands encourages innovative and inclusive proposals that address real community needs. Applicants can apply as individuals or as part of a team, depending on the scale of their project. The program is particularly suited for youth who are eager to gain hands-on experience, develop leadership skills, and make a tangible difference in their communities.
