The Changemakers for Equality Programme, led by ChangemakerXchange and supported by Julius Bär Foundation, is officially open for applications for its 2026–2027 cohort. Young leaders across Asia now have an exciting opportunity to accelerate their impact. T Designed to empower emerging social entrepreneurs, this initiative supports individuals tackling inequality through innovative, community-driven solutions. What Is the Changemakers for Equality Programme? The Changemakers for Equality Programme is a year-long initiative running from May 2026 to May 2027. It focuses on identifying and supporting young changemakers who are addressing the root causes of inequality within their communities. Participants gain access to: A global network of like-minded innovators Tailored capacity-building support Mentorship and expert guidance Seed funding to support collaborative projects Opportunities for cross-border partnerships The programme is built around the belief that lasting change comes from grassroots solutions that directly engage affected communities. Why Focus on Equality? Inequality remains one of the most pressing global challenges today. It is complex and intersectional, shaped by overlapping systems that determine access to: Quality education and skills Employment and income opportunities Healthcare and safety Civic participation and decision-making Beyond financial disparities, inequality also affects access to networks, resources, and influence. The programme specifically supports initiatives that break down these barriers and create pathways to social mobility, inclusion, and shared prosperity. Who Should Apply? The programme is open to individuals who: Are between 18 and 35 years old Are based in East, South, or Southeast Asia Lead or co-lead a social or environmental initiative Focus on reducing inequality through practical, community-led approaches Ideal candidates are those using innovative, bottom-up strategies to address systemic issues and improve opportunities for underserved populations. Areas of Focus Applicants can be working across a wide range of sectors, including: Education and learning access Livelihoods and economic empowerment Health and mental wellbeing Gender equality and social inclusion Climate resilience and sustainability Disability inclusion Civic engagement and participation Projects should demonstrate clear impact and a commitment to advancing equity and inclusion. Examples of Eligible Initiatives The programme welcomes diverse approaches to tackling inequality. Eligible initiatives may include: Expanding access to quality education through tutoring, mentorship, or digital tools Supporting underserved communities with job training and income-generating opportunities Improving access to healthcare and mental health services Preventing gender-based violence and strengthening protection systems Building community infrastructure such as water, sanitation, or connectivity solutions Promoting inclusive policies and advocating for systemic change Collaborative initiatives that bring together stakeholders across different socioeconomic backgrounds are especially encouraged. What Is Not Supported? While the programme is inclusive, certain types of initiatives are not eligible, including those that: Primarily benefit already advantaged groups Focus on private gain without clear public impact Offer short-term or one-off activities without long-term sustainability Lack a clear strategy for addressing inequality Programme Structure and Benefits Participants selected for the Asia cohort (2026) will experience a structured journey that includes: Kick-Off Call (June 2026): Introduction and onboarding session Customised Support: Tailored development plans based on participant needs Check-In Sessions: Regular virtual meetings to track progress In-Person Summit: A 5-day immersive experience in Asia (September 2026) Collaboration Funding: Financial support for joint initiatives starting September 2026 Ongoing Mentorship: Continued guidance and access to global experts Participants also become lifelong members of the ChangemakerXchange global network, which includes over 1,500 changemakers from more than 130 countries.
