About the Role The Research Associate will conduct policy-oriented research exploring how climate risks interact with geopolitics, geoeconomics, and international governance. Key research themes include: Climate diplomacy and international climate governance Energy transition and global energy security Climate-related geopolitical and economic risks Resource competition and critical minerals The growing influence of China and emerging middle powers in the global energy landscape Governance approaches that strengthen climate ambition and implementation The position combines analytical research with stakeholder engagement, communications, fundraising support, and event management within an internationally recognized policy environment. Key Responsibilities The Research Associate will contribute to the design, implementation, and delivery of research projects from inception through publication and stakeholder engagement. Primary responsibilities include: Conducting mixed-methods policy research, literature reviews, stakeholder mapping, and data analysis Designing and delivering research activities, publications, and policy outputs Writing research papers, reports, policy briefs, and analytical articles Presenting research findings through reports, presentations, and stakeholder meetings Organizing international conferences, workshops, roundtables, and consultations Supporting the publication process in collaboration with communications and editorial teams Developing project concept notes and contributing to successful funding proposals Building partnerships with universities, think tanks, NGOs, charities, and international institutions Managing stakeholder databases and maintaining strategic networks Supporting the implementation of Chatham House’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy The role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high-quality research standards.
