The successful candidate will play a central role in translating the Foundation’s strategy into compelling, audience-focused communications while managing a small communications team. The organisation operates with a small, fast-moving international team where collaboration, adaptability, and practical problem-solving are highly valued. Team members work across multiple projects while contributing to a shared mission of creating meaningful social impact. About the Communications Manager Role The Communications Manager will lead the Foundation’s communications strategy by transforming complex organisational priorities into clear, engaging, and consistent messaging for diverse audiences. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on content production, editorial leadership, media engagement, digital communications, and team management. Reporting within a collaborative international environment, the successful candidate will oversee both external communications and internal coordination processes while ensuring a coherent verbal and visual brand across all channels. The position is Berlin-based, with office days on Mondays and Wednesdays and flexible working arrangements available once established in the role. Key Responsibilities The Communications Manager will develop and implement audience-focused communications strategies aligned with the Foundation’s mission and organisational priorities. Core responsibilities include: Developing clear messaging frameworks for political institutions, civil society organisations, philanthropic partners, and other priority audiences. Creating compelling impact stories that demonstrate the Foundation’s work through evidence and real-world outcomes. Building communications plans across digital platforms, media, partner networks, reports, presentations, and events. Maintaining high standards of visual identity and brand consistency across all communications materials. Producing and editing high-quality digital, social media, and editorial content while supporting event promotion and post-event engagement. Introducing practical internal workflows for planning, approvals, prioritisation, and quality assurance. Managing relationships with freelancers and creative specialists where required. Supervising the Communications Coordinator and communications interns while supporting their professional development. Who Should Apply? Ideal candidates should be confident translating complex research, policy, and organisational strategy into engaging communications for varied audiences.
