Constellation Space is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join its Engineering team in Seattle, Washington, and contribute to the development of the company’s ConstellationOS platform. The full-time, on-site internship offers students the opportunity to work on a real engineering project from initial design through deployed code. Interns may contribute to areas including backend services, simulation, machine learning and developer tools. Two internship terms are available: a Winter 2026 internship beginning in November 2026 and a Spring 2027 internship beginning in Spring 2027. The position offers compensation of $6,000–$7,000 per month, together with a $3,000 relocation stipend. About the Constellation Space Internship The Software Engineering Internship is designed for students who want practical experience building software for a space technology environment. Rather than working solely on small supporting tasks, interns will own a scoped project and take responsibility for developing and deploying their work. This provides exposure to the full engineering lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, code review, documentation and presentation. Interns will work alongside the Constellation Space engineering team and contribute directly to the ConstellationOS platform. Areas of Work Depending on the project and the intern’s skills, work may involve: Backend software services Simulation environments Machine learning Developer tools Data pipelines Systems engineering Networking-related technologies Platform development The role provides an opportunity to apply university-level computer science and engineering knowledge to practical technology development. Key Responsibilities The Software Engineering Intern will be expected to: Build and ship a scoped feature or engineering tool. Write tested and reviewable production-quality code. Document technical work and implementation decisions. Support data pipelines or simulation environments where required. Collaborate with the engineering team throughout development. Present completed work to the team at the end of the internship term. The role therefore combines hands-on software development with collaboration, documentation and technical communication. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. Candidates should also demonstrate strong programming ability in Python, Go, C++ or a comparable programming language. Experience or coursework in the following areas is advantageous: Computer systems Networking Machine learning Software engineering Simulation Data processing The position is particularly suitable for students who have developed practical programming experience through academic projects, research or previous technical work.
