Description

The Digital Health Agency (DHA), a semi-autonomous government agency under Kenya’s Ministry of Health, invites applications for the role of Data Analyst. Established under the Digital Health Act No. 15 of 2023, DHA leads the digital transformation of Kenya’s health sector, developing and managing a secure, citizen-centric digital health ecosystem. To support this mission, DHA partners with Medic, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening digital health systems through open-source tools, capacity building, and data-driven innovation. The Data Analyst will be seconded to DHA to provide critical data support, facilitating evidence-based decision-making, policy development, and program performance monitoring. Position Overview Job Title: Data AnalystDirectorate: Digital Health and InformaticsReports To: Head, Division of Health Information ManagementLocation: DHA, SHA Building, 10th Floor, NairobiContract Type: Full-time, fixed term until April 2026 (extension contingent on performance and funding) The Data Analyst will collect, clean, analyze, and interpret health and program data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and accessibility across systems. The role focuses on transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive policy, operational decisions, and strategic planning. Key Responsibilities Collect, validate, clean, and maintain datasets from multiple sources. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making. Collaborate with teams to define data requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs). Conduct data quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability. Support organizational data governance and protection practices. Prepare periodic analytical and performance reports for management and stakeholders. Partner with system developers to enhance data collection tools and database functionality. Apply statistical tools and techniques, including regression analysis and forecasting, to support decision-making. Provide technical support and training to staff on data management and analysis best practices. Qualifications and Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline. Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years in data analysis, monitoring & evaluation, or related roles. Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel. Experience with statistical software including R, Python, STATA, or SPSS. Knowledge of database management and SQL queries. Key Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Ability to communicate complex data effectively to varied audiences. Competence in translating insights into actionable recommendations. Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality principles. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a collaborative mindset. About Medic Medic is a global nonprofit advancing equitable care and strengthening community health systems.
