The successful candidate will join the ECOS Communications and Membership Department and contribute to communication strategies that increase awareness and impact around environmental standards and sustainable solutions. About ECOS The Environmental Coalition on Standards (ECOS) is an international environmental organisation working to ensure that environmental concerns are reflected in technical standards, policies, and regulations. ECOS works on issues including: Circular economy. Nature protection and restoration. Sustainable products. Environmental standards. Climate and sustainability policies. Through advocacy, research, and collaboration with stakeholders, ECOS works to promote stronger environmental approaches within standardisation and policy processes. About the Role The Communications Officer will support ECOS in creating impactful communication strategies that make complex environmental policies understandable and engaging for wider audiences. Reporting to the Senior Press and Communications Manager, the successful candidate will help strengthen ECOS communication channels, develop content, coordinate publications, and support events and campaigns. This role requires someone who can combine strong communication skills with an understanding of environmental issues and sustainability challenges. Key Responsibilities Public Communications and Content Development The Communications Officer will: Support public communication activities related to circular economy and nature protection. Develop communication strategies aligned with ECOS objectives. Create engaging content including: Reports. Blogs. Opinion articles. Digital content. Communication materials. Transform technical environmental topics into clear and accessible messages. Digital Communications Support The successful candidate will help improve ECOS digital presence by: Supporting digital communication strategies. Improving online communication channels. Applying effective digital communication techniques. Supporting the use of online platforms to increase audience engagement. Experience with digital tools such as SEO, SEM, Google Analytics, Google Ads, WordPress, and CMS platforms will be considered an advantage. Publications and Editorial Support Responsibilities include: Editing and proofreading internal and external publications. Ensuring quality control of communication materials. Supporting publication design processes. Coordinating the ECOS monthly newsletter. Stakeholder Engagement and Events The Communications Officer will also: Coordinate communication activities with partners and stakeholders. Support ECOS-led initiatives involving members and collaborators. Assist in organising online and physical events. Help promote environmental campaigns and activities. Required Qualifications and Experience ECOS is looking for candidates with: 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in communications or a similar role. Experience working in an NGO, environmental organisation, or advocacy setting is preferred. Proven experience developing and implementing communication strategies. Experience managing projects, timelines, and multiple priorities. Ability to coordinate with different stakeholders. Experience with event management is an advantage. Skills and Competencies Applicants should demonstrate: Strong Communication Skills Excellent written and spoken English. Strong editing and proofreading abilities. Ability to simplify complex technical information. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills. Digital Communication Skills Candidates should ideally have experience with: WordPress. Content management systems. SEO and SEM. Google Analytics. Digital communication tools. Professional Skills The ideal candidate will have: Strong analytical abilities. Excellent organisation and time management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience working in multicultural environments. Commitment to ECOS values and environmental sustainability. Salary and Benefits ECOS offers a competitive compensation package, including: Monthly salary between €3,279 and €3,910 depending on experience and skills. Meal vouchers.
