Ember Fellowship 2027: Two-Year Programme for Emerging Leaders
globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

November 3, 2026

Description

The Ember Fellowship is a two-year programme designed to help early-career talent develop into builders, operators and future leaders. The programme combines a full-time job, practical training, AI-focused workshops and mentorship from an extensive network of experienced founders and operators. The Fellowship is designed for college seniors who are approaching graduation and want to accelerate their professional development through hands-on experience rather than relying solely on traditional classroom learning. Participants will work at a growing company in Detroit, Atlanta or Birmingham, while receiving in-person training from leaders at OpenAI and other companies. Applications are open until November 6, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Candidates are encouraged to apply early. What the Ember Fellowship Offers The two-year programme combines employment, professional development and access to an established entrepreneurial network. Selected Fellows receive: A full-time job at a growing company Placement in Detroit, Atlanta or Birmingham In-person training from leaders at OpenAI and other companies AI-first workshops designed to build practical skills Mentorship and connections through a network of 1,600+ alumni founders and operators A two-year environment focused on professional growth and leadership development The programme is structured to give participants direct exposure to the realities of working in growing organisations while developing the skills required to take on greater responsibility. Who Can Apply? The Ember Fellowship is aimed at college seniors who are graduating soon and are ready to enter the workforce. The programme is looking for individuals who demonstrate qualities such as: Grit and persistence Critical thinking Adaptability Integrity A strong sense of pace and urgency Willingness to learn and take responsibility Importantly, applicants do not need to identify themselves as entrepreneurs. The programme is intended for people with strong potential to become builders and leaders, regardless of whether they have previously used the label “entrepreneur.” Employment and Practical Experience One of the distinctive features of the Ember Fellowship is that participants receive a full-time job at a growing company. Rather than being solely an academic or classroom-based programme, the Fellowship places participants directly into professional environments where they can develop their skills through practical work. Working in a growing company can expose Fellows to fast-moving decisions, changing priorities, problem-solving and the challenges associated with building and scaling organisations. AI-Focused Learning Artificial intelligence is an important component of the Fellowship. Participants will take part in AI-first workshops and receive in-person training from leaders at OpenAI and other companies. This provides an opportunity for emerging professionals to develop an understanding of how AI can be incorporated into modern work and organisational environments. The programme’s focus on AI is particularly relevant for graduates entering a rapidly changing labour market where technological literacy and the ability to adapt are increasingly valuable. Mentorship and Alumni Network Fellows will also gain access to a network of more than 1,600 alumni founders and operators. This network can provide opportunities for mentorship, professional connections and exposure to people who have built companies and operated within growing organisations. For recent graduates, access to an established network can complement the practical experience gained through their full-time employment. Locations The Fellowship’s full-time employment opportunities are based in three U.S. cities: Detroit, Michigan Atlanta, Georgia Birmingham, Alabama Applicants should consider their ability and willingness to participate in an in-person programme and work in one of these locations. Why the Ember Fellowship Is Valuable The programme offers an alternative pathway for talented graduates who want to combine employment with intensive professional development. Instead of separating education from employment, the Fellowship integrates a full-time role with practical training, AI workshops and mentorship. This can allow participants to develop professional judgement, technical awareness, leadership skills and a strong network during the early stages of their careers. The two-year structure also provides Fellows with time to build meaningful experience rather than participating in a short-term programme. How to Strengthen an Application Applicants should demonstrate evidence of the qualities the programme seeks rather than simply describing themselves as ambitious or hardworking. Examples of persistence, adaptability, problem-solving, initiative and integrity can help demonstrate potential. Candidates should also explain why they are interested in working at a growing company and how they would make use of the Fellowship’s training, AI resources and alumni network. Applicants should apply early because applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Deadline and Application The application deadline for the Ember Fellowship is November 6. Because applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible.
