Application Deadline

December 26, 2025

Description

The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is inviting applications from committed, values-driven professionals who are passionate about protecting the environment, oceans, and human rights. As an international organisation working at the intersection of environmental protection and social justice, EJF conducts investigations, drives policy change, and amplifies frontline stories to hold environmental and human rights violators accountable. To support its expanding global programme, EJF is recruiting for five critical positions across research, advocacy, production, campaigning, and global transparency efforts. These opportunities are ideal for individuals seeking meaningful, high-impact roles contributing to climate action, ocean protection, human rights, and international policy change. 1. Ocean Research Assistant The Ocean Research Assistant will provide essential investigative and analytical support to EJF’s Oceans Programme. Working closely with global colleagues, the successful candidate will contribute to documenting and exposing illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and the human rights abuses linked to industrial fishing fleets worldwide. Eligibility & Key Requirements A relevant degree in marine science, fisheries management, environmental science, international relations, or a related field. Demonstrated research skills, including data gathering, analysis, and synthesis. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify patterns and verify complex information. Excellent written communication skills, enabling the production of reports, policy briefings, and investigative summaries. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and international teams. Interest in ocean conservation, fisheries governance, and human rights protection. This entry-level to mid-level role is suited for individuals motivated to develop a career in ocean governance, environmental investigations, and policy advocacy. 2. Global Advocacy Lead – Fisheries Transparency EJF is seeking a senior-level policy and advocacy professional to lead its global work on fisheries transparency. The Global Advocacy Lead will spearhead international efforts to strengthen accountability in fisheries management, working closely with partners such as Oceana and Global Fishing Watch. The role includes supporting the Coalition of Fisheries Transparency and promoting adoption of the Global Charter for Fisheries Transparency. Eligibility & Key Requirements A degree in environmental policy, political science, international relations, marine affairs, or a related discipline. Significant experience (senior level) in policy advocacy, international governance, or environmental campaigns. Strong understanding of fisheries governance, transparency frameworks, and anti-corruption measures. Ability to engage influential stakeholders, including governments, industry bodies, and global institutions. Proven track record of leading high-impact advocacy initiatives at global or regional level. Excellent diplomatic, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to develop strategic advocacy plans and produce high-level policy outputs. This is a strategic leadership role ideal for professionals with global advocacy experience and a commitment to accountability in marine governance. 3. Production Assistant The Production Assistant will join EJF’s Film Unit, supporting the creation of impactful visual content that strengthens campaigns across climate, oceans, human rights, and environmental justice. This is an excellent entry-level position for individuals aspiring to build a career in documentary film, digital storytelling, or campaign media production. Eligibility & Key Requirements A degree or training in film, media studies, digital communication, journalism, or related fields (or equivalent experience). Basic experience or demonstrated interest in video editing, research, scripting, or visual storytelling. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to assist in managing shoots, schedules, footage, and editing workflows. Creative thinking and willingness to learn from experienced producers and editors. Ability to work in a fast-paced campaign environment and contribute to compelling visual narratives. The role provides hands-on experience in documentary production, research, and story development. 4. Research and Advocacy Officer – Climate and Oceans The Research and Advocacy Officer will play an integral role in EJF’s expanding climate and ocean campaigns, with emphasis on deep-sea mining (DSM) and ocean-climate governance. The successful candidate will conduct research, support policy development, and drive advocacy engagements to influence governments, corporations, and multilateral institutions. Eligibility & Key Requirements A relevant degree in environmental science, climate policy, marine policy, political science, or related areas. Strong research capabilities, including literature review, data analysis, policy analysis, and report writing. Excellent understanding of climate change, ocean ecosystems, deep-sea mining issues, and environmental governance. Experience in advocacy, policy engagement, or stakeholder outreach. Proven capacity to translate research into actionable policy recommendations. Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for high-level advocacy audiences. This position suits mid-career professionals passionate about influencing global climate and ocean policy. 5. Campaign Manager – Climate and Oceans EJF is recruiting a seasoned Campaign Manager to lead dynamic, high-impact campaigns addressing climate breakdown and ocean ecosystem protection. From defending climate refugees to halting deep-sea mining, this senior role will coordinate strategic interventions across multiple jurisdictions. Eligibility & Key Requirements Extensive professional experience in environmental or human rights campaigning, policy advocacy, or strategic communications. Strong understanding of climate change, ocean governance, and global environmental policy frameworks. Proven ability to design and lead multi-layered campaigns, achieving policy or behavioural change. Exceptional political awareness and strategic thinking. Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to guide teams, coordinate partnerships, and manage complex campaign activities. This role is ideal for experienced advocates seeking to drive global environmental transformation. Conclusion EJF welcomes applications from talented, passionate individuals committed to environmental protection, ocean sustainability, climate action, and social justice.
