Internship Overview Successful applicants will join the FactCheck Africa newsroom and contribute directly to its editorial and verification work. The internship provides hands-on experience in fact-checking methodologies, investigative research, and explainer journalism, while offering mentorship from experienced media professionals. Ideal candidates should possess the following qualities and competencies: Prior experience or demonstrated interest in fact-checking or verification work Strong explainer writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely A keen eye for detail and accuracy when working with data, sources, and evidence Research skills, including the ability to assess the credibility and reliability of information Interest in media, public accountability, governance, and public-interest journalism Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a newsroom team Strong ethical standards and respect for journalistic integrity Applicants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply, particularly those with interests in journalism, communications, political science, data analysis, law, or social sciences.
