Organization: Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations Programme: World Food Forum (WFF) Internship Location: Rome, Italy Duration: 3–11 months Application Deadline: 16 November 2025 The Office of Youth and Women (OYW) is inviting dynamic, passionate, and forward-thinking individuals to join its global internship program. This initiative offers young professionals the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that advance youth engagement, gender equality, cultural sustainability, and innovation in agrifood systems. Through these internships, participants will gain hands-on experience in project management, communications, and development, while contributing to flagship global initiatives such as the World Food Forum (WFF). Each internship track offers a unique chance to work alongside experts, shape impactful programs, and help amplify the voices of youth and women around the world. Below are the available internship positions, including their focus areas, responsibilities, and requirements. Coordination and Management Internships (2 Positions) Overview:Interns in this track will support the coordination and delivery of key OYW activities, including the planning and execution of the World Food Forum Flagship Event. They will collaborate across teams to ensure seamless project delivery and effective communication between internal and external stakeholders. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in International Relations, Project Management, or Development Studies. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proven capacity to manage logistics, timelines, and collaborative projects. Interest in youth empowerment, women’s leadership, and global development. Youth Assembly Internship (1 Position) Overview:The Youth Assembly Intern will contribute to the organization of youth-led consultations, dialogues, and policy sessions. The role involves facilitating inclusive discussions, capturing youth perspectives, and supporting advocacy efforts at the international level. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Background in Political Science, Public Policy, or Social Sciences. Strong facilitation and event coordination skills. Experience with youth networks or grassroots movements is an asset. Excellent writing and analytical abilities. Commitment to youth engagement and inclusive policy development. Education Internships (2 Positions) Overview:Education Interns will support the development of innovative learning initiatives and educational materials. They will assist in designing and coordinating training programs that enhance capacity building and knowledge sharing among youth leaders and partners. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Enrolled in or graduated from Education, Communication, or Development Studies. Strong research and instructional design skills. Experience in content creation, curriculum development, or e-learning preferred. Excellent organizational and communication abilities. Passion for education, empowerment, and lifelong learning. Culture Internship (1 Position) Overview:This internship focuses on promoting traditional knowledge and food practices that strengthen sustainable agrifood systems. The intern will assist in developing cultural initiatives that highlight heritage, diversity, and sustainability in local and global contexts. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Academic background in Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Environmental Science, or Sustainable Development. Creative and analytical mindset with an interest in cultural preservation. Experience in community engagement or project coordination is an advantage. Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural settings. Innovation Internships (2 Positions) Overview:Innovation Interns will support the development and implementation of projects led by young innovators within the OYW ecosystem. The focus will be on fostering creative solutions to global challenges through technology, entrepreneurship, and design thinking. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Studies in Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship, Technology, or Design. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with project development tools or startup ecosystems. Proactive and adaptable mindset with a drive for creativity and social impact. Local Action Internships (7 Positions) Overview:Local Action Interns play a vital role in establishing National Youth Chapters around the globe and implementing OYW projects at the local level. They will engage directly with communities, support reporting, and contribute to storytelling efforts that amplify local impact. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Degree in Development Studies, Communications, or Community Leadership. Experience with grassroots organizing or youth advocacy preferred. Strong writing and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple community-level projects. Commitment to inclusivity and sustainable local development. Social Media Internship (1 Position) Overview:The Social Media Intern will assist in managing WFF’s online platforms, developing engaging content, and growing digital visibility. This role combines creativity and strategy to communicate OYW’s mission effectively to global audiences. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Studies in Communications, Marketing, or Media Studies. Strong understanding of social media management and analytics tools. Excellent visual storytelling and content creation skills. Ability to align messaging with brand voice and strategic objectives. Partnerships Internship (1 Position) Overview:The Partnerships Intern will help map, coordinate, and manage collaborations that enhance the reach and impact of OYW initiatives. The intern will work closely with key stakeholders to identify synergies and support joint actions. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Degree in International Relations, Business, or Development Cooperation. Strong networking and stakeholder management skills. Ability to conduct partner research and support relationship-building. Excellent communication and organizational abilities. Digital Internship (1 Position) Overview:The Digital Intern will support the maintenance and expansion of the World Food Forum’s digital platforms. Responsibilities include updating website content, improving user experience, and managing online engagement tools. Eligibility and Key Requirements: Academic background in Information Technology, Web Design, or Digital Communications. Experience with content management systems (CMS) and basic web development. Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot digital issues. Interest in digital innovation and online engagement.
