Regional Director – Africa Organization: Feed the ChildrenLocation: Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, ZambiaClosing Date: 20 March 2026 Feed the Children is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as Regional Director – Africa, providing overall direction and leadership to its Africa program teams. This senior role is part of the organization’s Senior Management Team and reports directly to the President of Feed International. The Regional Director will oversee program strategy, operational management, business development, financial coordination, and knowledge management across multiple African countries. The role requires a dynamic leader capable of driving organizational growth, ensuring program excellence, and representing the organization globally. Role Purpose The Regional Director provides: Strategic and operational leadership across the Africa region Oversight of program design, delivery, and impact Representation of Feed International at high-level global forums Leadership in strengthening systems, partnerships, and funding growth The role combines programmatic oversight with organizational strategy, ensuring alignment with Feed the Children’s mission and values. Key Responsibilitie 1. Program Leadership & Management (60%) The majority of the role focuses on program oversight and regional strategy. Core duties include: Developing and implementing a revised regional and operational plan Setting regional program goals, strategies, and performance metrics Overseeing strategy, design, planning, budgeting, and MEAL systems Driving structural enhancements and operational efficiency Leading change initiatives to promote agility and distributed leadership Ensuring compliance with safety, security, child protection, and safeguarding standards Managing, coaching, and retaining high-performing teams Supporting proposal reviews, grant reporting, and funder requirements Participating in Senior Management Team strategic decision-making The Director ensures programmatic excellence and continuous improvement across all country operations. 2. Business Development & External Relations (20%) The role plays a key part in resource mobilization and partnership building. Responsibilities include: Leading donor mapping and fundraising strategies Supporting proposal design and timely submission of grants Expanding revenue-generating activities Cultivating new and existing funder relationships Representing the organization at key events and forums Building partnerships with governments, international organizations, and stakeholders This function ensures sustainable program growth aligned with strategic priorities. 3. Finance (10%) Financial oversight and coordination are essential components of the position. Key tasks: Developing the department’s annual operating budget Reviewing monthly financial reports and addressing variances Coordinating grant payouts with available funding Working closely with international finance and grants teams The Director ensures responsible stewardship of financial resources. 4. Knowledge Management (10%) The Regional Director strengthens learning systems and evidence-based programming. Responsibilities include: Developing systems for knowledge collection and dissemination Promoting learning and sharing best practices across teams Ensuring program outcomes inform policy and advocacy Monitoring impact and adjusting strategies based on evidence This ensures that lessons learned are leveraged to maximize organizational impact. Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate will demonstrate: A Master’s degree in international development, public health, social sciences, or a related field 10+ years of experience managing NGO programs or humanitarian operations At least 8 years of experience in developing countries Senior leadership experience in multicultural and cross-cultural settings Proven track record in strategic planning and high-impact program delivery Strong experience in donor engagement and resource mobilization Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills Ability to travel up to 30%, including remote locations The candidate must be capable of translating strategic vision into concrete programmatic and grant plans while managing multiple projects and stakeholders.
