The position provides an opportunity for an experienced programme professional to contribute to a major initiative spanning Kenya, Nigeria and Senegal during its first phase. About FSD Africa FSD Africa is a specialist development agency focused on helping make finance work better for Africa’s future. Based in Nairobi, the organisation works with governments, regulators, policymakers, businesses and other stakeholders to design and implement programmes that strengthen financial markets. The role will serve as a key programme management support function for AFIYA. The successful candidate will help ensure that project tracking systems, reporting calendars, workplans, budgets and partner deliverables remain accurate, current and properly coordinated. The position is particularly suited to someone who can manage multiple deadlines, work across different teams and maintain strong attention to detail while supporting a complex, multi-country programme. Key Responsibilities Programme Operations and Reporting One of the main responsibilities will be supporting the day-to-day operational management of AFIYA. The Assistant Manager will maintain the programme’s reporting calendar, tracking deadlines for Mastercard Foundation narrative and financial reports, internal management reports and partner submissions. The Assistant Manager will also prepare initial drafts of funder and internal reports for review by senior management. Workplan and Delivery Tracking The Assistant Manager will maintain comprehensive workplan and delivery trackers covering AFIYA’s continental and country-level activities. This will require regular collection and verification of progress information from programme teams and delivery partners. The successful candidate will monitor milestones against approved workplans and the programme results framework, identifying delays and risks that require escalation. The position will also contribute to governance and oversight meetings by compiling accurate programme status information and supporting documentation. Budget Monitoring and Financial Administration Financial tracking is another important aspect of the role. The Assistant Manager will maintain budget-versus-actuals (BVA) trackers on a monthly basis, covering FSD Africa-managed activities and partner disbursements. The successful candidate will support variance analysis, reconcile expenditure with the Finance & Operations team, monitor partner disbursements and contribute to forecasting. Additional responsibilities include supporting the development of resourcing plans, procurement plans and activity budgets, as well as helping ensure compliance with Mastercard Foundation financial reporting requirements. Working with the Development Impact team and programme partners, the successful candidate will help coordinate the collection of data against the programme’s results framework, including outreach, adoption and resilience indicators.
