UNESCO MGIEP Youth Fellowship on Leadership for Peace and Sustainability The UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) is inviting applications for its Youth Fellowship on Leadership for Peace and Sustainability. Scheduled from 25 June to 4 July 2026, this intensive fellowship will take place at the Humanitas College of Kyung Hee University in South Korea. The programme aims to empower Indian youth with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to foster peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable societies. Fellowship Overview The UNESCO MGIEP Youth Fellowship is designed as an action-driven, immersive learning experience. Drawing on proven case studies from the Asia-Pacific region, the fellowship equips participants to engage critically with issues such as peacebuilding, conflict resolution, digital technology, and social innovation aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Selected fellows will have the opportunity to apply these concepts to real-world challenges, both within India and globally. Objectives of the Fellowship The fellowship seeks to achieve the following objectives: Skill Development: Nurture a cohort of Indian youth capable of applying the norms, practices, and values of peace and sustainable development to address emerging and recurring global challenges. Immersive Learning: Create an experiential environment where fellows develop leadership qualities, critical thinking skills, and practical knowledge to shape future careers in peace and sustainability. Networking and Collaboration: Establish a vibrant network of young leaders committed to promoting peace and sustainable development, fostering long-term collaboration across communities and sectors. Eligibility Criteria To be considered for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements: Be under 30 years of age on the starting date of the fellowship. Be an Indian citizen residing in India. Have completed an undergraduate degree prior to the fellowship’s commencement. Youth from all genders, social, economic, and cultural backgrounds, including people with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply. Be available to attend the fellowship in person in South Korea. Demonstrate proficiency in English. Selection Criteria Applications will be evaluated based on the coherence of applicants’ ideas and their ability to connect past experiences with potential learnings from the fellowship. Preference is given to candidates who can articulate how participation in the programme will influence their career trajectory and contributions to peace and sustainable development. Financial Support UNESCO MGIEP provides comprehensive support for all selected fellows. The fellowship covers the costs of: Visa and travel to and from South Korea Accommodation during the fellowship Meals and daily expenses Programme-related materials This ensures that participants can focus fully on learning and collaboration without financial constraints.
