Fully Remote Paid Internship Focused on Humanitarian Data, Content Creation, and Community Engagement Data Friendly Space has announced applications for a Community Engagement & Content Intern role, offering a fully remote, paid internship opportunity for individuals interested in communications, digital engagement, and humanitarian data work. The internship is part of the organization’s Analysis Team and is designed to support content creation, volunteer community management, and the development of data-driven analysis products used in humanitarian decision-making contexts. Internship Supports Communication of Humanitarian Data and Analysis Work The selected intern will play a key role in translating technical analysis into accessible and engaging content for diverse audiences. The role focuses on making complex humanitarian data and insights more understandable through storytelling, visuals, and digital communication. The internship also provides exposure to SituationHub, SituationHub’s flagship digital public good used to support evidence-based decision-making in humanitarian contexts. Key Responsibilities of the Role The Community Engagement & Content Intern will work closely with the Analysis Team to support communication, engagement, and content development activities. Content Creation and Social Media Write engaging social media content translating analysis outputs and impact stories Draft blog articles and short-form content for external audiences Design graphics and visual materials using Canva Support presentations, reports, and analysis product formatting Maintain consistent brand voice across communication materials The role emphasizes simplifying technical information into clear, accessible messaging for wider audiences. Volunteer Analyst Community Engagement The intern will also support the management of a global volunteer analyst community contributing to DFS projects. Coordinate communication with volunteer analysts Support task tracking and workflow management Produce updates, newsletters, and community announcements Maintain communication channels such as Slack or email Gather and relay volunteer feedback to the Analysis Team This component of the role focuses on strengthening engagement, collaboration, and retention within the volunteer network. Contribution to Analysis Products The internship also involves supporting the production and communication of humanitarian analysis outputs. Assist in developing situation reports and data briefs Translate technical findings into accessible summaries Support visualization of data and analytical insights Contribute ideas for improving content delivery and presentation Learn how humanitarian data informs decision-making Through this work, the intern will gain hands-on experience in data storytelling and humanitarian analysis communication. Skills and Qualifications Required Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong communication and digital content creation skills, particularly in English. Required Skills Include: Strong written communication skills in English Ability to adapt tone for different audiences and formats Experience using Canva or similar design tools Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms such as Google Workspace and Slack Ability to work independently in a remote environment Good time management and organizational skills The organization emphasizes the importance of creativity, clarity, and consistency in communication work.
