Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) | Remote Contract Duration: One year, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and fundingWork Arrangement: Fully remotePreferred Time Zones: Europe or South Africa (UTC+0 to UTC+2) About the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) is an independent civil society organization dedicated to advancing innovative, inclusive, and evidence-based responses to organized crime worldwide. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, GI-TOC maintains offices in Austria, South Africa, Colombia, and Malta, alongside a globally dispersed Secretariat working across approximately 41 countries. GI-TOC brings together a network of more than 700 independent global and regional experts, working at the intersection of human rights, democracy, governance, peace, and development, particularly where organized crime has become a growing threat. Through research, analysis, convening, and partnership-building, the organization promotes new ways of thinking and acting against transnational organized crime. The organization commissions and disseminates cutting-edge research, curates a global resource library of over 2,000 reports and tools, and leverages its convening power to unite civil society, governments, and the private sector in addressing organized crime and corruption. GI-TOC’s Mission and Areas of Work GI-TOC works to: Identify, analyse, and map criminal trends and shifts in regional instability Examine the impact of organized crime on illicit flows, governance, development, security, conflict, and the rule of law Connect and empower civil society actors working on organized crime, corruption, and instability Support local stakeholders in monitoring national, regional, and international organized-crime dynamics Through this work, GI-TOC contributes to more informed policies, stronger institutions, and more resilient communities. Role Overview: Grants Manager GI-TOC is seeking an experienced and highly organized Grants Manager to join its Programme Management team. Reporting directly to the Director of Programme Management, the Grants Manager will play a central role in ensuring the effective design, management, and oversight of grants, contracts, and donor-funded programmes. This role is critical to ensuring that GI-TOC’s projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with donor requirements and best practices. The successful candidate will work closely with programme teams, finance, human resources, and external partners to support smooth project implementation across a diverse global portfolio. Key Responsibilities The Grants Manager will be responsible for a wide range of programme and grant management functions, including: Programme and Grant Oversight Working closely with team leaders and administrative units to ensure programmes and projects run smoothly Reviewing grants, tenders, and contracts at concept and submission stages to ensure compliance with donor requirements and alignment with best practices Supporting the effective design and structure of donor-funded projects Financial and Contract Management Managing project budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring accurate allocation and use of resources Overseeing procurement processes and contract management for consultants and implementing partners Interfacing with programme management, finance, and personnel teams to ensure smooth contract administration and expenditure tracking Compliance and Donor Relations Ensuring compliance with relevant donor regulations, internal policies, and quality standards Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with external partners, particularly donor counterparts Supporting coordination and management of consortium partnerships Organizational Contribution Promoting the development of programme management skills, both personally and within the wider team Contributing as part of GI-TOC’s central administrative system to strengthen organizational effectiveness Required Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies: A minimum of five years’ relevant experience in programme or project management Proven experience managing international grants, with strong compliance expertise Prior experience with EU and USA funding instruments is highly preferred Fluency in English (written and spoken) Strong experience in budgeting and financial management, with relevant specialized training or qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field Ability to work effectively with remote teams across multiple time zones Strong client orientation and relationship-building skills Highly reliable, detail-oriented, and able to manage time and priorities independently Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple workstreams Work Environment and Professional Development GI-TOC offers a flexible and supportive working environment, encouraging staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
