Description

UNESCO’s Participation Programme (2026–2027) is a funding mechanism that enables UNESCO Member States, National Commissions for UNESCO, and regional bodies to support priority projects implemented in partnership with credible, experienced organisations. This is a terrific opportunity for civil society and community-based organisations working at the intersection of women’s and girls’ empowerment, gender equality, youth development, and sport. Projects that leverage sport and physical activity as tools to advance gender equality, social inclusion, and wellbeing align particularly well with UNESCO’s Fit for Life priorities. UNESCO’s Participation Programme (2026–2027): Funding Ceilings US$26,000 – National-level projects US$28,000 – Subregional or interregional projects US$38,000 – Regional projects UNESCO’s Participation Programme (2026–2027): Strategic Focus Areas At The BOLD Global Alliance for Women, Girls & Sport (BOLD), support is provided to women-led, youth-led, and community-based organisations seeking to meaningfully engage with this opportunity and scale initiatives that strengthen: Women’s and girls’ health, rights, and empowerment through physical education, physical activity, and sport (PEPAS) Inclusive sport and Quality Physical Education Youth leadership and holistic wellbeing Safe sport, safeguarding, and protection BOLD is committed to supporting organisations that use sport as a transformative tool for equity, leadership, and sustainable community impact. Key Date Deadline for submissions: 27 February 2026 Organisations with innovative, community-driven approaches that align with these priorities are strongly encouraged to engage early and prepare competitive proposals.
