Geneva Call is currently seeking a Donor Relations Coordinator to join its Funding and Services team in Brussels. This permanent, full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to humanitarian action by strengthening and managing relationships with institutional donors that enable Geneva Call’s mission in complex and conflict-affected environments. The preferred start date for the role is 1 March 2026. Role Overview As part of the Donor Relations Unit, the Donor Relations Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring excellence in donor engagement and fundraising support across the organisation. The position leads and coordinates donor relationship management within an assigned portfolio, from identification and cultivation through solicitation, grant negotiation, and long-term stewardship. While donor engagement is a shared responsibility across Geneva Call, this role provides strategic oversight of donor relationships that span headquarters, regional units, and country offices. The Coordinator ensures that donor engagement is proactive, coordinated, and aligned with Geneva Call’s thematic and geographic priorities. Key Responsibilities Identification of Funding Opportunities The Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for identifying and tracking current and emerging funding opportunities, including innovative and pooled financing mechanisms. Key activities include: Researching donor priorities, funding instruments, and strategic interests Monitoring funding developments, timelines, and requirements Coordinating internal communication on donor meetings and engagements Supporting the planning and execution of donor cultivation and fundraising events Tracking funding gaps and supporting proactive engagement strategies Collaborating with programme and communications teams to develop tailored pitches, concept notes, and technical briefings Donor Engagement and Relationship Management The role places strong emphasis on building and sustaining trusted relationships with donors. Core responsibilities include: Serving as the primary focal point for assigned donors Providing donors with timely updates on organisational activities and impact Implementing stewardship strategies, including personalised communications and donor recognition initiatives Coordinating and accompanying high-level donor meetings Representing Geneva Call in donor-related forums and fundraising engagements Organising technical briefings, donor roundtables, and targeted engagement initiatives Supporting colleagues across headquarters and field offices in donor relationship-building Application Development and Grant Negotiations The Coordinator supports funding applications and negotiations by ensuring alignment between donor requirements and organisational priorities. This includes: Advising on donor-specific procedures, preferences, and compliance requirements Liaising with donors during grant negotiation processes Ensuring applications are informed by donor intelligence and strategic positioning Supporting consultations and discussions linked to potential funding opportunities Data Management and Analysis Accurate donor data and documentation are central to effective fundraising. Responsibilities include: Maintaining up-to-date donor records in organisational databases Filing grant-related documentation and correspondence in line with donor and organisational requirements Tracking donor engagement metrics to assess effectiveness and inform strategy Updating donor mapping and funding trend analysis on a regular basis Staying informed of best practices in donor relations and fundraising Required Qualifications and Experience Education and Experience Advanced university degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or International Human Rights Law Minimum of eight years’ experience in donor relations and fundraising within humanitarian, development, or peacebuilding contexts Proven success in donor cultivation, fundraising, and grant negotiation Strong understanding of institutional donor funding mechanisms and priorities Experience in project design, implementation, and performance management Solid knowledge of budget development and financial planning Skills and Competencies Strong diplomatic, networking, and external representation skills Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team-based approaches Capacity to manage complex priorities and functions Sensitivity to political and conflict dynamics Commitment to humanitarian principles and Geneva Call’s core values Languages Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required Knowledge of French or another European language is an asset Working Conditions and Travel The position is based in Brussels, Belgium, under a Belgian contract. Regular travel to donor capitals, headquarters, and, where relevant, field missions is required to support donor engagement and fundraising activities.
