Application Deadline

November 20, 2026

Description

Young writers, educators and youth workers have until 8 November 2026 at 23:59 Tallinn time (EET) to apply for a place on the SALTO PI Editorial Board. The opportunity combines paid work, international collaboration and a published portfolio, and it is built for people under 35 who want their voices to shape how Europe talks about participation. SALTO PI Editorial Board: What the Fellowship is About The SALTO PI Editorial Board brings together fellows and mentors to build and share resources around the Participation priority. Fellows contribute topics to the Participation Resource Pool, then take those resources back to their own communities through a dissemination campaign. Applicants may choose one, or at most two, sectors where their experience is strongest: Higher Education School Education Vocational Education and Training Adult Education Youth Sport Choosing carefully matters. Because the application rewards depth, a focused claim in one sector will likely read stronger than a thin claim across two. SALTO PI Editorial Board: What the Fellowship Pays and Offers The financial package is clear: Sector Mentors: €3,000 Editorial Fellows: €1,800 Remote collaboration with an international editorial community A chance to publish your work and strengthen your editorial portfolio Travel costs covered for the mandatory in-person meeting in January to February 2027 For early-career writers, a paid, published editorial role with international visibility is hard to find. The fellowship also builds a network across sectors and countries, which tends to outlast the programme itself. SALTO PI Editorial Board: Who Can Apply Eligibility is strict, so check it before investing time: You must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. You must be under 35 on 31 December 2027. You must meet the applicable residence requirements. You must be available for the entire fellowship cycle, including the in-person meeting in January to February 2027. The last point deserves a calendar check today. Missing the in-person meeting is not an option, so applicants should confirm their availability before they begin writing. How Your Application Will Be Scored The application has three parts, each weighted differently: PartWeightSectorial experience, motivation and education50%Proposed topics and dissemination campaign25%Previous writing sample25% Half of your score rests on who you are and what you have done in your chosen sector. That makes the first section the place to invest most of your effort. Tips for a Stronger Application Be concise and specific. The organisers ask for short, targeted answers. Replace general statements such as “I am passionate about youth” with concrete evidence: a project you ran, a group you worked with, a result you can describe. Engage with the Participation priority directly. Show that you understand what participation means in your sector, and where you have seen it work or fail. Evaluators will look for real engagement, not borrowed vocabulary. Propose topics that fill a gap. Your suggested topics for the Participation Resource Pool should feel useful to practitioners. Think about questions your community keeps asking that existing resources do not answer well. Make your dissemination plan believable. A strong campaign names the channels you already use, the audiences you already reach and the steps you will take. A school network, a youth organisation, a sports club or a student newsletter all count if you can show real access. Choose your writing sample wisely. You may submit up to 10 pages. Pick a piece that shows clear thinking, a strong structure and a voice an editor would want to publish. If possible, choose work related to education, youth, sport or participation. A Simple Plan to Beat the Deadline This week: Confirm eligibility, age, residence and availability for the January to February 2027 meeting. Choose your sector. Next week: Draft your experience and motivation section, since it carries half the score. Select your writing sample. Final week: Develop your topics and dissemination campaign, edit everything for concision and submit well before the final evening. Submitting a day or two early protects you from technical problems and time-zone confusion. Tallinn time is the reference, so convert the deadline to your own time zone and set a reminder. SALTO PI Editorial Board: The Bottom Line The Editorial Fellowship rewards people who already act in their communities and can write about it clearly. It pays, it publishes and it connects. For eligible applicants under 35, a few focused days of work could lead to an international editorial role. Check the official application page for the complete eligibility rules and the application form before you submit.
