Its mission is to change the way the world values girls and their education by combining narrative impact with measurable outcomes. At the heart of its work lies RISE—Resilient, Inclusive, Skilled, and Educated—a flexible suite of educational resources that has evolved over a decade of implementing programs across diverse global communities. RISE combines adaptable learning materials with in-depth training and community engagement, allowing implementation in a variety of settings depending on local needs, goals, and resources. Since 2021, Girl Rising has invested in building robust internal data systems and research capacity. A centralized data management system, built on Salesforce, has strengthened performance tracking and outcome measurement across programs. The organization continues to enhance this platform to integrate advanced measurement tools and generate system-based analysis. In parallel, Girl Rising developed a comprehensive Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework to systematically assess program effectiveness and outcomes. This framework is now being scaled to other initiatives, deepening the organization’s evidence-based approach and internal research capacity. Position Summary The Research Manager will play a pivotal role within the MEL team, leading research initiatives, strengthening data systems, and ensuring that Girl Rising’s global programs are grounded in rigorous evidence. This position requires an experienced researcher who can balance hands-on data management with strategic analysis, capacity building, and cross-team collaboration. Working closely with global program teams, the Research Manager will design and execute research studies, manage data integrity, and translate findings into actionable insights. As the organization expands its culture of in-house research, the role will involve mentoring colleagues and strengthening collective capacity for data-driven decision-making. Key Responsibilities Research and Evaluation Lead the design, coordination, and implementation of primary and secondary research for Girl Rising programs. Develop and execute research plans, including survey instruments, focus group protocols, and mixed-methods designs. Identify opportunities to strengthen programs through quantitative and qualitative analysis. Produce research reports, briefs, and presentations to communicate findings clearly and accessibly for diverse audiences. Stay current on global evidence and trends in education, gender, and social development, contributing insights to Girl Rising’s learning agenda. Data Management and Analysis Manage and continuously improve the organization’s internal data system in collaboration with the MEL and IT teams. Track key performance indicators, ensuring data consistency, reliability, and integrity across all programs. Conduct data cleaning, manipulation, and analysis using statistical software (e.g., STATA, R) to generate dashboards and insights. Support quarterly and annual reporting, donor submissions, and proposal development through accurate data visualization and synthesis. Lead future expansions of the internal data platform to strengthen analytical capabilities and evidence generation. Strategic and Technical Support Provide technical input on MEL frameworks, indicators, and tools to capture project outcomes and impact. Contribute data-driven insights during proposal development and strategy planning. Assist in designing performance indicators, conducting benchmarking and gap analyses, and preparing impact narratives for partners and funders. Remain informed about Girl Rising’s curricula, media assets, and thematic tools to ensure research efforts align with program objectives. Qualifications and Experience Required: Postgraduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, Education Policy, or a related field with strong quantitative training. 3–5 years of experience in social development research or program data management, preferably in education and gender. Proficiency in managing databases and analyzing large datasets; experience with Salesforce is advantageous. Proven ability to design surveys, conduct research collaboratively, and synthesize findings for practical application. Experience using data analysis software (e.g., STATA, R) for quantitative research. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in distributed teams across multiple time zones. Preferred: Experience presenting data and research findings visually and narratively to diverse stakeholders. Experience in qualitative research design and analysis. Ability to translate evidence into practitioner- and policy-oriented outputs such as briefs or articles. Contract and Compensation Salary: USD 35,000–40,000 per year, commensurate with location and experience. Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with a three-month probation period. Benefits: 20 days of paid leave annually, plus two weeks off at year-end. 10 national holidays (based on country of residence). Home office stipend and location-dependent benefits.
