Are you an experienced professional in the film, media, gaming or audiovisual industry? GIZ is seeking a Technical Advisor – Distribution and Ecosystem Development to support stronger partnerships between Africa and Europe through the EU-funded Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Audio-visual project. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, this exciting long-term role focuses on strengthening distribution, market access, strategic partnerships and industry ecosystems across film, television series, animation, video gaming and immersive content. The successful candidate will help connect African and European creators, distributors, broadcasters, streaming platforms, industry networks and other key stakeholders. Job Location Nairobi, Kenya Assignment Duration Until 30 November 2029 Key Responsibilities The Technical Advisor will play an important role in expanding market connections and strengthening collaboration across the audiovisual value chain. Responsibilities include: Providing technical advice on audiovisual distribution strategies and market access. Supporting audience development and marketing initiatives. Building partnerships between African and European distributors, broadcasters, publishers and streaming platforms. Strengthening cooperation among creators, industry hubs, incubators, markets and professional networks. Developing and managing strategic partnerships and consortia. Organising matchmaking, networking activities and participation in international audiovisual events. Supporting the visibility of project-supported initiatives. Contributing to project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting. Working closely with GIZ, Expertise France and EU partners. Who Can Apply? Applicants should have a university degree in Film, Media Studies, Cultural Management, Economics, Trade, Marketing or a related field. Candidates should also demonstrate at least five years of relevant professional experience, particularly in: Audiovisual distribution. Market development. International industry collaboration. Global audiovisual markets and emerging platforms. Industry events and partnership initiatives. Experience with international partnerships, development programmes or donor-funded projects will be considered an advantage. Skills and Competencies GIZ is looking for a motivated professional with strong intercultural competence and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders. Applicants should have: Strong knowledge of global audiovisual markets and distribution channels. Experience developing partnerships and industry networks. The ability to navigate uncertainty and drive impactful initiatives. Strong strategic thinking combined with attention to detail. Business fluency in English. A strong interest in technology, film or gaming. Knowledge of German, French or Portuguese is an added advantage. About the Project The Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Audio-visual project is implemented through collaboration between GIZ and Expertise France. The EU-funded initiative seeks to strengthen socio-economic and intercultural ties between Africa and Europe by supporting cooperation throughout the audiovisual industry.
