The Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) is seeking a Global Communications Coordinator to support its Global Communications Program and Project Success Hub. This fixed-term consultancy offers an opportunity to contribute to global climate action by strengthening communications that advance policy reform in the buildings sector. The position is a 12-month consultancy contract, working five days per week, with an anticipated start date in mid-February 2026. The role is home-based, with potential travel as required, and reports to the Global Communications Manager. Organisational Background The buildings sector represents one of the most critical frontiers in the global fight against climate change. With less than eight years remaining to halve greenhouse gas emissions from buildings and align with a zero-emissions pathway, decisive policy reform is essential. GBPN is a system-wide, network-based non-governmental organisation working to decarbonise the buildings sector through policy change. Formerly a think tank, GBPN now delivers innovative, action-oriented projects in regions where policy reform can have the greatest impact. The organisation operates through a unique coalition model that: Connects local policymakers and building professionals Engages industry-leading global experts Supports education, collaboration, and policy reform By combining global expertise with locally driven action, GBPN works to change building policies while highlighting the climate, health, economic, and environmental benefits of reform. GBPN’s primary audiences include: Government policymakers and decision-makers Building sector professionals and experts, such as: Academics and researchers Developers and designers Renewable energy and sustainability specialists The Opportunity The Global Communications Coordinator will play a key role in delivering high-quality written content that supports GBPN’s global communications strategy and regional project work. The position requires strong copywriting skills across a range of professional formats and the ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear, engaging narratives. The role works closely with: The Global Communications team The Project Success Hub Country project managers External consultants and stakeholders across multiple regions Key Responsibilities The Global Communications Coordinator will contribute to a wide range of communications activities, including: Copywriting and Content Development Public relations copywriting, including: Blogs News articles Opinion pieces Social media content Marketing copywriting to support projects across regions such as: Indonesia India Africa The Pacific Development of: Case studies Brochures and flyers Presentations Digital copywriting, including: Website pages Email marketing invitations Landing pages Newsletters Network-specific copywriting to support targeted campaigns General copywriting support, including contributions to grant proposals Communications Operations Supporting the maintenance of the communications calendar and publication pipeline Posting content on social media platforms using Zoho Assisting with basic website content updates (training provided) Contributing to: The CRUX newsletter The GBPN newsletter Undertaking additional communications tasks as required Qualifications and Experience GBPN is seeking an exceptional communicator with strong writing skills and relevant academic and professional experience. Required Qualifications Degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline Preferred Background and Interests Interest in one or more of the following fields: Climate change mitigation Disaster risk reduction International or community development Urban planning and placemaking Sustainable buildings and energy policy Selection Criteria Essential Criteria Candidates must demonstrate: Ability to write clearly and effectively to brief High literacy and the ability to contextualise complex issues Fluency in English with strong professional writing skills Ability to translate technical content into accessible language Confidence in engaging with diverse stakeholders across regions Experience conducting interviews and managing review and approval processes Basic understanding of social media platforms and audience engagement strategies Strong project and time management skills Ability to work independently, remotely, and proactively Confidence using digital collaboration tools such as Zoom and Google Suite Desirable Criteria The following experience is considered an advantage: Working across multiple projects with competing deadlines Experience with NGOs or INGOs Knowledge of climate mitigation, renewable energy, or sustainable buildings Familiarity with social media targeting and analytics Experience using CRMs, particularly Zoho Deliverables The consultant will be responsible for: Producing high-quality communications outputs aligned with GBPN strategies and style guidelines Maintaining effective collaboration with project teams and key stakeholders Consistently meeting agreed deadlines All outputs will be subject to GBPN’s internal review and approval processes.
