Role Overview: Climate & Agriculture Market Analyst The Global Climate & Agriculture Market Analyst will serve as a technical leader and strategic advisor, connecting climate science with agricultural market systems. The role focuses on developing funding strategies and guiding how carbon markets and climate finance tools align with Tearfund’s mission. This is a two-year fixed-term contract with flexible location options, allowing the successful candidate to be based in any country where Tearfund operates. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership The analyst will lead global strategies for financing nature-based projects, including: Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Climate-resilient agribusinesses Community-based adaptation initiatives Climate & Market Analysis A core part of the role involves: Assessing how climate change impacts agricultural productivity Tracking trends in agribusiness and carbon markets Analysing carbon pricing and financial mechanisms supporting sustainability Capacity Building The role includes developing and delivering training programmes to: Strengthen regional expertise in climate finance Promote green entrepreneurship Build technical capacity among advisors and partners Quality Assurance The analyst will establish and maintain: Standards for climate and agriculture market programmes Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) frameworks Data-driven approaches to ensure accountability and impact Global Representation As a senior technical voice, the role requires: Representing Tearfund in global forums Building partnerships with donors, investors, and institutions Influencing climate finance and policy discussions Candidate Profile Education Applicants should hold a degree in: Agricultural Economics Environmental Science Business Administration A Master’s degree is preferred. Experience Candidates should bring: Strong expertise in climate finance, carbon markets, or agri-tech Experience in humanitarian or community development contexts Regional experience in Africa, Asia, or the Middle East Skills Key competencies include: Advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills Ability to interpret complex market and climate data Fluency in English (additional languages such as French, Swahili, or Arabic are an advantage) Personal Values As a faith-based organisation, Tearfund requires candidates to: Be committed Christians with a personal relationship with God Align with Tearfund’s mission, values, and statement of faith Why This Role Matters The intersection of climate change and agriculture is one of the most critical challenges facing the world today.
