Organization: – hosted by WMOLocation: Home-based, RemoteStart Date: 1 April 2026 or as soon as possible thereafterContract: Variable, up to 12 months About the Global Ecosystems Atlas The Global Ecosystems Atlas is an initiative to create a comprehensive, standardised resource on the global distribution, condition, and change of ecosystems. Entering its Foundation for Market Fit phase, the Atlas now focuses on practical usability testing with business and finance users, assessing real-world value, constraints, and adoption pathways. The Business Engagement Specialist will lead interactions with early-adopter companies and financial institutions to test the Atlas dataset and data services, gather insights, and support the Atlas’s adoption and strategic positioning. Duties & Responsibilities Analyse how businesses and financial institutions currently operationalize nature-related frameworks and ecosystem data; identify gaps and workflow challenges. Differentiate requirements, workflows, and decision contexts across user groups. Secure and lead 3–5 early-adopter collaborations to test the Atlas dataset in operational settings. Engage senior partners, coordinate onboarding, agreements, and structured feedback. Design and oversee usability testing of the Atlas beta dataset with the technical team. Assess impacts on decision-making, disclosures, compliance, and risk management processes. Lead the development of a flagship thought-leadership paper co-authored with partners. Translate user feedback into actionable recommendations for dataset evolution and scaling adoption. Coordinate messaging and content for the Atlas business roadshow, including high-profile events (e.g., CBD COP17, Global Nature Positive Summit, WEF Annual Meeting 2027). Key Deliverables Engagement Strategy: Mapping, segmentation, and engagement framework for early adopters. Early-Adopter Collaborations: 3–5 secured partnerships with agreements. User Feedback and Use-Cases: Consolidated evidence documenting Atlas performance, gaps, and impacts. Use Case Profiles (3): Detailed sector-specific use cases. Flagship Paper: Co-authored publication for early 2027. WEF AM 2027 Outputs: Partner content and event materials. Recommendations: Guidance for dataset evolution and adoption at scale. Qualifications & Experience Education: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD preferred) in environmental science, ecology, geography, economics, public policy, sustainability, data science, or related field. Professional Experience: ≥10 years in corporate sustainability, ESG, environmental data, market intelligence, product adoption, or related areas. Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific/technical data into business-relevant applications. Experience leading usability testing and early-adopter engagement with senior business and finance stakeholders. Deep familiarity with nature-related frameworks (TNFD, SBTN, CSRD, GRI, SEEA). Proven record in securing and managing senior-level partnerships. Track record of contributing to high-profile publications, white papers, or strategic thought leadership. Other Requirements: Strong analytical and synthesis skills. Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Ability to operate in ambiguous and evolving project environments. Independent, self-motivated, and able to coordinate across distributed teams. High professional standards, integrity, and discretion. Languages: Excellent English (oral and written). Knowledge of additional WMO official languages is advantageous.
