The Global Landscapes Forum Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), one of the world’s largest knowledge-led platforms on sustainable land use and ecosystem restoration, has announced a new vacancy for a Youth Program Coordinator. The role is designed to strengthen youth engagement across global climate, biodiversity, and landscape restoration initiatives. Strengthening Youth Leadership in Global Environmental Action The Youth Program Coordinator will lead strategic development and implementation of GLF’s youth engagement portfolio, ensuring that young people are meaningfully integrated into environmental decision-making, knowledge production, and ecosystem restoration efforts. GLF’s youth programming is anchored in initiatives such as: Restoration Stewards Program (youth-led ecosystem restoration fellowships) Youth in Landscapes Network (global youth engagement platform) GLFx community chapters (local landscape action hubs) The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring alignment between these initiatives and GLF’s broader mission of promoting sustainable, productive, and resilient landscapes worldwide. Core Responsibilities: Strategy, Program Delivery, and Global Engagement The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on program coordination across multiple global workstreams. Key responsibilities include: Designing and implementing multi-year youth engagement strategies Coordinating annual youth program plans in collaboration with partners and advisory committees Overseeing the Restoration Stewards Program and related fellowship activities Supporting youth participation in global events, including COP climate negotiations Strengthening youth networks and facilitating cross-regional collaboration Managing partnerships with NGOs, donors, and international organizations The coordinator will also play a central role in ensuring youth participation is embedded across GLF’s five thematic areas: food systems, landscape restoration, rights, finance, and impact measurement. Program Management and Youth Network Development A major component of the position focuses on managing and expanding GLF’s global youth ecosystem. Responsibilities include: Supporting the growth and regional expansion of youth networks Coordinating youth-led sessions and events at international convenings Facilitating co-creation of knowledge between youth fellows, experts, and institutions Ensuring inclusive participation of youth from diverse geographic and cultural backgrounds Working closely with GLFx chapters to integrate local initiatives into global programming The role emphasizes participatory leadership models, ensuring that youth are not only participants but also co-designers of program activities. Knowledge Production and Communications Leadership The Youth Program Coordinator will also work closely with communications and knowledge teams to amplify youth voices and impact stories. Key communication responsibilities include: Supporting storytelling and visibility of youth-led initiatives Coordinating knowledge-sharing outputs with GLF research and communications teams Contributing to publications, campaigns, and digital engagement strategies Ensuring youth-generated insights are reflected in global policy discussions This function strengthens GLF’s position as a platform linking grassroots youth action with global environmental governance discussions. Resource Mobilization and Strategic Partnerships The role also involves contributing to fundraising and partnership development efforts to sustain and expand youth programming. Key duties include: Integrating youth priorities into funding proposals and strategic plans Supporting budget planning and resource allocation for youth initiatives Building partnerships with international organizations, donors, and research institutions Enhancing visibility and funding opportunities for youth-led environmental action This ensures long-term sustainability of GLF’s youth engagement ecosystem. Required Qualifications and Professional Experience Applicants are expected to bring strong academic and professional backgrounds in environmental or development-related fields. Minimum requirements include: A master’s degree in environmental studies, climate science, international development, or related disciplines At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in program coordination or youth engagement Strong understanding of climate change, biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable landscapes Experience working with youth networks, participatory programs, or capacity-building initiatives Background in stakeholder engagement with NGOs, donors, or international coalitions The organization places strong emphasis on leadership capacity, cross-cultural communication skills, and experience in managing multi-stakeholder programs. Working Conditions and Contract Structure The position is structured as a 12-month consultancy contract, with the possibility of renewal based on performance. The role is fully remote, enabling global collaboration across time zones and regions. The Youth Program Coordinator will work closely with internal teams and external partners across continents, reflecting GLF’s global operational footprint.
