The Global Methane Hub is recruiting a Communications Associate to support its global mission of reducing methane emissions across key sectors. As the first coordinated philanthropic initiative dedicated to methane mitigation, GMH focuses on the energy, agriculture, and waste sectors, which collectively account for the vast majority of human-caused methane emissions. Operating across six continents, GMH combines funding, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing to accelerate climate action. The organisation is headquartered in Santiago, with an additional legal presence in the Netherlands. Organizational Approach and Impact GMH advances methane mitigation through three core functions: Regranting: Funding public-benefit organisations implementing methane reduction initiatives Convening: Bringing together governments, researchers, and civil society to align strategies Advising: Providing technical expertise, data insights, and strategic guidance The organisation prioritises both global coordination and local engagement, recognising that meaningful climate impact requires collaboration across sectors and regions. Role Overview The Communications Associate plays a central role in supporting the organisation’s communications strategy. Reporting to the Communications Lead within the Strategic Operations Team, the position focuses on project coordination, digital engagement, and media support. This is a full-time remote role, requiring flexibility to work across multiple time zones and collaborate with global stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Project Management and Communications Support The role involves coordinating communications campaigns and ensuring smooth execution of initiatives. Responsibilities include: Supporting the planning and delivery of communications campaigns Managing timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder coordination Developing narratives and case studies that highlight organisational impact Preparing donor-facing communication materials Organising internal meetings, agendas, and documentation Maintaining structured digital filing systems for communication assets Supporting logistics for virtual and in-person events Additionally, the role includes assisting with communications-related grant processes, ensuring compliance with internal systems and procedures. Media Relations and Monitoring The Communications Associate contributes to GMH’s media outreach and visibility by: Maintaining and updating media contact databases Supporting the preparation of press kits and media materials Tracking media coverage and compiling reports Monitoring trends in climate communication and media narratives Assisting in the development of outreach strategies Digital Content and Audience Engagement A significant portion of the role focuses on managing digital platforms and audience interaction. Key tasks include: Creating and publishing content across websites, social media, and newsletters Analysing performance metrics and optimising content strategies Engaging with online communities, partners, and stakeholders Monitoring social media trends through active listening tools Ensuring all content aligns with GMH’s mission and messaging The role also supports real-time communication of organisational achievements and climate impact. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate brings a combination of communications expertise, project management skills, and a strong interest in climate action. Applicants are encouraged from diverse backgrounds, particularly those underrepresented in the sector. Core Requirements Bachelor’s degree (preferred) with at least 3 years of relevant experience Background in communications, media relations, or project coordination Proficiency in digital tools and platforms, including social media and content systems Strong writing and editing skills for diverse audiences Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work collaboratively across global teams Additional Competencies Understanding of climate change and environmental issues Familiarity with non-profit and international development sectors Strong organisational and analytical skills Cultural awareness and ability to engage across diverse contexts High level of professionalism, integrity, and adaptability Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
