Its core mission includes: Promoting accountability through international law Strengthening justice systems globally Supporting rule of law initiatives in challenging contexts The Finance Officer will contribute directly to these objectives by ensuring accurate financial management and reporting. Role Overview The Finance Officer is responsible for providing administrative and financial support to ensure effective grant and award management. The role focuses on maintaining financial accuracy, supporting internal reporting, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements. Key responsibilities include: Monitoring, tracking, and reconciling financial data for grants and contracts Preparing monthly budget-to-actual reports Maintaining budget integrity within the organization’s accounting system Supporting financial oversight of sub-awards and funding allocations This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of managing multiple financial processes simultaneously. Key Responsibilities The Finance Officer will undertake a wide range of financial and administrative duties to support the organization’s operations. Core responsibilities include: Monitoring budgets, expenditures, accruals, and financial pipelines Ensuring compliance with funder regulations and organizational policies Reconciling sub-award reports and verifying financial accuracy Supporting proposal budget preparation in collaboration with program teams Preparing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders Assisting with audit preparation and financial statement development Reconciling invoices with contractual agreements and internal records Identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies Contributing to strategic financial planning and process improvements These responsibilities ensure that all financial activities align with both organizational goals and donor expectations. Required Qualifications and Skills Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation in finance, along with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, remote work environment. Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field Professional Experience: Minimum of three years in a finance role within a non-profit or international development setting Experience with financial reconciliation and reporting Familiarity with enterprise-level accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong data analysis and financial reporting capabilities Knowledge of non-profit accounting standards such as GAAP or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Additional Competencies: Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Problem-solving mindset and adaptability in complex environments Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal) Experience in Dutch financial reporting is considered an added advantage.
