This fixed-term opportunity is ideal for a multi-channel communications professional who thrives on variety and is passionate about social impact. Working within the Communications, Campaigns and Advocacy team, the successful candidate will help amplify the organisation’s mission to tackle digital exclusion across the UK. Through powerful storytelling and strategic content creation, the role will contribute directly to expanding reach, influencing new audiences, and showcasing measurable impact. About Good Things Foundation Good Things Foundation works at the forefront of digital inclusion, collaborating with strategic partners and a nationwide network of community organisations across all four UK nations. Through the National Digital Inclusion Network, the organisation supports communities to gain essential digital skills, access online services, and improve life opportunities. At a time when digital access is increasingly essential to employment, health, education, and civic participation, this role offers the opportunity to help shape narratives that genuinely change lives. Role Overview This is a broad, generalist communications role designed for someone who enjoys working across multiple platforms and formats. The Communications Officer will craft engaging content across social media, email campaigns, website copy, digital campaigns, and press materials, while also helping to build and strengthen media relationships. The position requires both creativity and organisation: the ability to generate compelling stories while managing workflows, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships effectively. Key Responsibilities Develop and deliver multi-channel content aligned with the 2026–2028 strategy Create engaging social media posts, short videos, email campaigns, press releases, and web copy Support campaign and advocacy initiatives through impactful storytelling Help build relationships with media contacts and external stakeholders Contribute to raising awareness of digital exclusion and the organisation’s work Collaborate with colleagues across teams to ensure consistent messaging The Communications Officer will play a central role in strengthening brand visibility and ensuring the charity’s voice resonates with diverse audiences. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will bring: Exceptional organisational and time management skills Creative flair and a strong instinct for storytelling Experience developing content across multiple digital platforms An aptitude for building positive working relationships Enthusiasm for social impact and digital inclusion This role is particularly suited to someone eager to expand their experience in digital communications, PR, campaigns, policy, and advocacy within a purpose-driven organisation. Location & Working Arrangements The organisation’s main working hub is located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This role is best suited to candidates who live in Sheffield or within reasonable commuting distance. While staff benefit from hybrid working arrangements that combine remote and in-person work, all team members are required to travel to Sheffield at least twice per month for meetings, workshops, and events. Travel costs for commuting are not reimbursed.
