Location: Virginia, USA (Remote Eligible) Google Cloud, through its Mandiant division, is seeking an accomplished cybersecurity professional to join its offensive security team as a Senior Red Team Consultant. This role offers an opportunity to engage with global enterprises and government entities, delivering advanced cyber defense consulting and leading complex adversarial emulation engagements. About the Role The Senior Red Team Consultant will serve as a technical lead for offensive security engagements, including end-to-end red and purple team assessments, penetration testing, and security validation exercises. This role combines deep technical expertise with client-facing responsibilities, providing trusted advisory services to executive and technical stakeholders. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative, high-performance environment that values innovation, continuous learning, and mentorship. As part of the Mandiant team, the consultant will contribute to expanding the organization’s offensive capabilities, developing tools, and integrating emerging threat intelligence into real-world testing scenarios. Key Responsibilities Lead and Execute Offensive Security Engagements:Plan, coordinate, and conduct complex Red Team assessments, adversarial simulations, and penetration tests across diverse environments including networks, applications, and cloud infrastructures. Client Advisory and Communication:Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, including C-level security leaders, providing clear, actionable recommendations on remediation and defense strategies. Manage client interactions throughout the engagement lifecycle—from scoping to delivery and post-assessment support. Mentorship and Team Development:Support the professional growth of junior consultants by mentoring on technical skills, reporting standards, and client communication. Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing across the global team. Innovation and Tool Development:Create or enhance offensive security tools, contribute to internal research, and help evolve Mandiant’s methodologies. Leverage programming expertise in languages such as Python, C#, C/C++, Rust, or Nim to improve engagement efficiency and accuracy. Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with Google Cloud and Mandiant’s intelligence, threat analysis, and product teams to ensure assessments reflect real-world adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). Engagement Reporting:Produce high-quality technical and executive reports that summarize findings, methodologies, and strategic recommendations. Present results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on offensive security. At least five years of experience across four or more of the following domains: red teaming, penetration testing, purple teaming, network security, web application assessments, social engineering, scripting, tool development, cloud security, reverse engineering, or source code review. Strong technical knowledge of Linux or macOS operating system security. Proven experience leading teams through engagement scoping, planning, execution, reporting, and remediation phases. Preferred Qualifications Industry-recognized certifications such as OSCE, OSEP, OSEE, OSCP, CCSAS, CCT INF, or relevant SANS credentials. Experience in offensive security consulting or advisory roles. Ability to work closely with sales and management teams to support business development, client engagement, and service scoping. Demonstrated experience developing security tools or scripts in programming languages such as Python, C#, C/C++, Rust, or Nim. Exceptional written and verbal communication, collaboration, and public-speaking skills. Compensation and Benefits The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000 to $194,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Final compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual experience.
