The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors. We are recruiting to fill position below: Job Title: Grants Intern Location: AbujaDuration of Contract: 6 months (January 1 – June 30, 2026)Grade Level: 2Reporting Line: Grants OfficerTravel: Up to 20% Job Summary The Grants Intern plays a key role in supporting the Grants Officer by ensuring smooth administrative and compliance processes, maintaining accurate documentation, and fostering coordination between program, finance, and M&E teams. The role involves updating grants trackers, organizing project cycle management meetings, and supporting donor reporting requirements. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to learn the fundamentals of grants management while contributing to humanitarian programming. ResponsibilitiesGeneric Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with NRC policies and donor guidelines. Provide administrative and coordination support to the grants team. Maintain effective filing and documentation systems. Support process improvement initiatives. Assist in updating grants trackers and management tools. Coordinate project cycle management meetings and follow up on action points. Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality. Contribute to internal coordination and reporting. Specific Responsibilities: Track donor requirements, reporting deadlines, and deliverables. Support internal communication between program, finance, and M&E teams. Assist in organizing meetings, trainings, and workshops. Maintain accurate documentation and compliance records. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure smooth operations. QualificationsGeneric Professional Competencies: Education: University Degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related fields. Experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience in grants, administration, or project support. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Interest in humanitarian and development work. Context / Specific Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Ability to work under pressure and deliver on multiple priorities. Good understanding of teamwork and coordination. Solution-oriented attitude. Basic technical knowledge of NRC procedures on finance, logistics, and HR. Behavioral Competencies: Planning and delivering results. Communicating with impact and respect. Building trust and empowering others. Managing resources effectively. High level of accuracy and efficiency in reporting. What’s in it for You?
