Greenpeace International is seeking an experienced and strategic Global Capital Campaign Director to lead the delivery of a landmark €100 million global fundraising campaign. This pivotal role will support the construction of a new Greenpeace ship and help scale high-impact global campaigns that defend people and planet. This is a full-time, project-based position running until February 2029 (approximately three years). The role operates in a hybrid working model, with the successful candidate based in the Netherlands, the Nordics (Sweden, Finland, Norway, or Denmark), or the United States. Other locations with established Greenpeace National or Regional organisations may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to hosting capacity and compliance requirements. Organisational Context Greenpeace is one of the world’s most recognised environmental campaigning networks, comprising 26 independent national and regional organisations, coordinated by Greenpeace International. The organisation uses peaceful, creative confrontation to expose environmental destruction and advance solutions for a green, just, and peaceful future. Greenpeace’s mission is to ensure the Earth’s ability to nurture life in all its diversity by working to: Protect biodiversity in all its forms Prevent pollution and abuse of oceans, land, air, and freshwater End all nuclear threats Promote peace, global disarmament, and non-violence Role Overview The Global Capital Campaign Director will sit within Greenpeace International’s Fundraising Department and collaborate across the entire Greenpeace network to deliver a high-value, multi-market capital campaign. The campaign aims to raise €100 million globally, with €20 million already pledged, providing strong momentum for the next phase. This role requires a combination of fundraising leadership, project management excellence, and the ability to inspire and align diverse teams across countries and cultures. The Director will act as a central connector between international teams and national and regional offices, enabling effective collaboration and shared ownership of campaign success. Key Responsibilities The Global Capital Campaign Director will lead and manage all aspects of the capital campaign, including: Campaign Leadership and Strategy Leading, coordinating, and delivering a global €100 million capital fundraising campaign Developing and implementing innovative fundraising strategies across multiple major gift markets Inspiring and supporting fundraising teams across the Greenpeace network Major Gifts and Partnerships Securing and stewarding leadership and major gifts Supporting national and regional offices in cultivating high-value donor relationships Ensuring consistent donor stewardship and engagement across markets Project and Financial Management Managing complex, multi-stream project plans across regions Monitoring progress against targets and milestones Proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing campaign risks Overseeing budget management, financial monitoring, and transparent reporting Ensuring compliance with restricted income requirements and donor agreements Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Building strong, trust-based relationships across all levels of the organisation Engaging senior leaders and stakeholders to ensure alignment and accountability Facilitating clear communication and coordination between international and national teams Reporting and Accountability Supporting transparent reporting to internal stakeholders and funders Ensuring campaign outcomes and expenditures meet organisational and donor expectations Skills, Experience, and Attributes Greenpeace recognises that no candidate will meet every requirement and encourages applications from individuals who meet many of the following criteria. Essential Experience Significant experience in major gift or partnership fundraising, ideally including capital campaigns Proven ability to secure and steward leadership gifts Extensive experience managing complex, multi-workstream projects Strong background in budget management, financial monitoring, and reporting for large-scale or global initiatives Experience engaging with and managing diverse, senior-level stakeholders Core Competencies Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong leadership and team motivation capabilities Ability to balance strategic vision with operational detail High levels of organisation, accountability, and adaptability Additional Requirements Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and geographies Fluency in English, with proficiency in an additional language considered an asset Strong digital literacy and willingness to learn new systems Flexibility to work across time zones and undertake international travel Alignment with and commitment to Greenpeace’s mission, values, and campaigning approach What Greenpeace Offers Greenpeace International provides a supportive and values-driven working environment.
