Health Progress Fellowship: Advancing Global Health Through Local Expertise – Apply Before 27 November 2025
globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

December 26, 2025

Description

About the Fellowship The Health Progress Fellowship, delivered through the Health Progress Hub—an initiative of the Global Policy Research Group—offers an opportunity for professionals in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) to contribute directly to global health progress. The program connects evidence-based health organizations with local experts who can generate critical on-the-ground intelligence needed to scale proven, high-impact health interventions. Through this fellowship, participants leverage their local networks, operational insight, and sector knowledge to bridge the information gap that global organizations face when exploring new regions. The program is designed for individuals with strong familiarity with local health systems, implementation pathways, and delivery infrastructures who can help accelerate decision-making for organizations focused on cost-effective health solutions. The Challenge Global health organizations working on highly effective interventions—such as oral rehydration therapy, micronutrient supplementation, deworming programs, or diagnostic infrastructure—often encounter serious information constraints when entering unfamiliar geographies. Remote research and desk studies cannot reliably address critical operational questions: Which implementation partners have shown consistent delivery capacity rather than relying on strong marketing alone? How do regulatory and approval processes function in practice, beyond official policy documents? Which supply chains, distribution pathways, and last-mile systems deliver genuine reach? The absence of locally sourced, accurately synthesized intelligence can delay program expansion by months. Organizations risk entering markets with incomplete data, inefficient partnerships, or inaccurate assumptions about capacity, logistics, or regulatory reality. The fellowship addresses these gaps by equipping global actors with verified, practical, and locally informed insights. Fellowship Responsibilities Fellows play a central role in generating actionable intelligence that supports rapid and informed decision-making. Participants typically engage over a 2- to 4-week period, dedicating 30 to 80 hours to produce a structured, practical guide that answers key implementation questions for their country or region. This work involves: Using local networks and professional experience to map implementation partners, service providers, and nonprofit or government actors with proven operational track records. Investigating regulatory and approval processes and documenting how they function in practice rather than how they appear in official guidelines. Assessing delivery systems, logistics chains, and last-mile capabilities with a focus on real-world performance. Synthesizing insights into a concise, decision-ready format tailored for global health organizations. Fellows collaborate with the Health Progress Hub team to determine the precise scope of work. The emphasis is on producing applied intelligence, not academic research. The intended audience includes program leads and decision-makers who must evaluate opportunities quickly and efficiently. Final Deliverable Fellows produce a 10- to 25-page intelligence brief that answers essential scoping questions identified by global health organizations. Deliverables may include: Curated lists of implementation partners, with verified performance histories and capacity assessments. Practical navigation guides describing actual timelines and procedural realities for obtaining regulatory approvals. Detailed mappings of delivery systems, highlighting genuine last-mile reach versus reported coverage. These outputs compress months of ground scoping into weeks, accelerating the expansion of high-impact interventions into new regions. High-quality intelligence produced by fellows serves as a shared resource for multiple organizations simultaneously, improving the effectiveness and speed of global health implementation. Fellowship Details Compensation: USD 250–750 for 30–80 hours of work over 2–4 weeks, depending on project needs, location, and experience. Eligibility: Open to candidates from all LMICs as defined by the World Bank. Applicants living outside their home countries may apply if they have at least two years of professional experience in their home health systems. Location: Fully remote. Priority Countries: India, Nigeria (excluding Kano State), Tanzania, South Africa, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Bangladesh, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia. Deadline: 27 November 2025. Applicants residing in Kano State are encouraged to apply for the Program Manager role with First Embrace, offered through the same fellowship framework. Candidates outside the listed priority countries are still strongly encouraged to apply. Beyond the Fellowship Outstanding fellows become pre-vetted members of the Health Progress consultancy network. This opens doors to future opportunities with evidence-based global health organizations, including advisory roles, long-term projects, and in some cases full-time employment. Applicants who previously applied for the Clear Solutions project in Niger, Cameroon, or Somalia are already in the system and do not need to reapply.
