HENNGE Global Internship Program: Software Engineering Opportunity in Japan
globalsouthopportunities.com

Application Deadline

April 7, 2026

Description

The HENNGE Global Internship Program (GIP) offers a unique opportunity for aspiring software engineers to gain hands-on experience in an international technology environment. Hosted at the company’s headquarters in Tokyo, specifically in the vibrant district of Shibuya, this on-site internship provides participants with intensive technical training, mentorship, and exposure to real-world engineering practices. Designed for students and early-career developers, the program focuses on strengthening technical foundations, improving problem-solving abilities, and fostering collaboration in a global engineering team. The internship operates entirely in English, meaning Japanese language skills are not required, making it accessible to talented applicants from around the world. Rather than assigning interns to routine production tasks, the program prioritizes skill development through structured training projects, direct mentorship, and collaboration with experienced cloud product engineers. Program Overview The Global Internship Program is structured as a 4–6 week intensive training experience where participants work closely with HENNGE’s engineering teams. Key features of the program include: On-site training at HENNGE’s Shibuya office in Tokyo Mentorship from experienced cloud product engineers Daily collaboration with an international engineering team Hands-on technical projects designed to strengthen core development skills Use of cloud technologies, particularly Amazon Web Services, during training and development exercises The program runs Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (JST). Participants will engage in technical learning sessions, project work, peer discussions, and regular feedback meetings with mentors. Although the internship itself is unpaid, participants receive extensive financial and logistical support. Exceptional interns may also be considered for full-time employment opportunities with HENNGE after completing the program. Choose Your Engineering Pathway Applicants must select at least one pathway during the application process. Each pathway focuses on a specific set of technologies and development skills. Interns cannot switch pathways after the program begins. Full-Stack Engineering Pathway The Full-Stack Engineering Pathway is designed for participants who want to gain experience building and connecting both front-end and back-end systems. During this pathway, interns will: Develop back-end APIs and front-end interfaces for full-stack applications Work with programming languages such as Python, Go, and TypeScript Learn essential concepts including: Security in application architecture State management across systems Testing and debugging Cloud-integrated development workflows Explore Unix-like environments and modern DevOps tooling Receive mentor feedback to refine engineering decisions and problem-solving strategies Internship Structure Weeks 1–4: Full-stack application development project Week 5: DevOps and infrastructure project This pathway is particularly suited for candidates interested in building scalable systems that integrate multiple layers of a cloud-based architecture. Front-End Engineering Pathway The Front-End Engineering Pathway focuses on modern user interface development and client-side architecture. Interns in this track will: Build interactive applications using TypeScript and modern frameworks such as React or Vue.js Master essential front-end concepts including: State management Data fetching and API integration Performance optimization UI architecture best practices Understand how front-end systems interact with back-end services and cloud infrastructure Participate in code reviews where they explain technical decisions and design trade-offs Through iterative feedback and mentorship, interns continuously refine their implementations and deepen their understanding of modern front-end engineering. Internship Structure Weeks 1–4: Application development training Week 5: DevOps project This pathway is ideal for developers who want to specialize in building high-quality user interfaces while understanding the broader software ecosystem. Internship Benefits Although the internship is unpaid, the program offers extensive financial and logistical support to ensure participants can focus on learning and collaboration. Selected interns will receive: Monthly financial subsidy Round-trip international airfare Visa guidance and pre-arrival support Medical insurance (for interns traveling from outside Japan) Japanese mobile phone with data access These benefits help international interns transition smoothly into the program and adapt to life in Japan during the internship period. Additional Experiences and Networking Opportunities Beyond technical training, interns also gain access to a vibrant workplace culture and professional networking opportunities. Participants can expect: “Get-to-know-you” networking luncheons Monthly technical sessions where engineers share insights, emerging technologies, and industry trends Access to modern office facilities, refreshments, and collaborative workspaces Invitations to staff gatherings and social events Opportunities to participate in Japanese cultural activities These experiences allow interns to connect with colleagues, explore the tech community, and gain deeper exposure to Japanese workplace culture. Application Process Interested candidates must apply through the official program portal and select their preferred pathway. Important application guidelines include: Applicants must choose at least one engineering pathway when registering. Candidates who wish to apply for both pathways must submit separate applications using different email addresses for the coding challenge. Once accepted into the program, pathways cannot be changed. Applicants interested in non-technical business roles for new graduates (Japanese language required) should consult the alternative recruitment page provided by HENNGE. Why the HENNGE Global Internship Stands Out The HENNGE Global Internship Program offers more than just technical training. It provides a rare opportunity for aspiring engineers to: Work in one of the world’s most technologically advanced countries Gain experience in a fully international engineering environment Learn directly from experienced cloud engineers Build practical projects using modern tools and cloud platforms Develop professional networks within a global technology company By combining mentorship, hands-on development, and cultural exchange, the program equips interns with valuable skills and insights that can accelerate their careers in software engineering.
