ECPAT International is seeking a Project Coordinator for its regional ENSEMBLE initiative focused on combating the sexual exploitation of children across West Africa and the Sahel. The consultancy-based position will support coordination, advocacy, research, and civil society engagement activities across multiple countries between June 2026 and June 2027. About ECPAT International ECPAT International is a global network dedicated to ending the sexual exploitation of children in all forms, including: Online child sexual exploitation Child trafficking for sexual purposes Sexual exploitation in travel and tourism Exploitation of children in prostitution Certain forms of child, early, and forced marriage The network currently includes 141 member organizations operating in more than 113 countries worldwide. Its international secretariat is based in Bangkok. About Project ENSEMBLE Project ENSEMBLE is a regional initiative designed to strengthen collective action against the sexual exploitation of children in West Africa and the Sahel. The project responds to growing risks faced by children in contexts affected by: Conflict and insecurity Forced displacement Humanitarian crises Gender inequality Migration and mobility challenges The programme is implemented in collaboration with partner organizations in: Burkina Faso Guinea Niger Mauritania The project focuses on strengthening civil society organizations (CSOs), building evidence, and improving advocacy and child protection responses throughout the region. About the Project Coordinator Role The Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation and coordination of the ENSEMBLE project while working closely with regional partner organizations and ECPAT’s Director of Programmes. The consultancy is estimated at approximately 100 working days over a 12-month period. The ideal candidate will preferably be based in West Africa and able to work effectively across multiple countries and time zones. Key Responsibilities Regional Advocacy and Civil Society Coordination The consultant will coordinate advocacy planning and oversee implementation activities across participating countries. Responsibilities include: Coordinating regional and national advocacy activities Working with contracted advocacy agencies Reviewing advocacy plans and ensuring strategic alignment Supporting capacity-building activities for civil society organizations Monitoring advocacy implementation across partner countries Participating in coordination meetings and risk management discussions The role requires close collaboration with partner organizations and regional stakeholders. Research Coordination in Humanitarian Contexts The Project Coordinator will lead the preparatory and implementation phases of a regional research initiative focused on sexual exploitation of children in humanitarian settings. Tasks include: Overseeing research methodology and implementation planning Coordinating with local research partners and advisors Supporting ethical and context-sensitive research design Monitoring research implementation and quality assurance Supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting processes This component aims to strengthen evidence-based responses to child sexual exploitation in crisis contexts. Project Oversight and Reporting The consultant will maintain oversight of all project activities and donor reporting obligations. Responsibilities include: Monitoring project timelines and deliverables Tracking implementation progress and identifying risks Coordinating reporting inputs from partners Supporting donor reporting processes Assisting with financial monitoring and budget tracking Supporting financial reporting coordination with country partners The coordinator will work closely with ECPAT’s finance and programme teams to ensure compliance with donor requirements. Community of Practice and Member Engagement The role also involves strengthening collaboration among francophone ECPAT member organizations in West Africa. Key tasks include: Facilitating peer learning and knowledge-sharing Organizing webinars and coordination meetings Supporting the regional Community of Practice on child sexual exploitation Sharing resources, lessons learned, and strategic updates The position aims to strengthen solidarity and collaboration among child protection actors in the region. Candidate Requirements ECPAT is seeking candidates with strong project management and regional coordination experience. Required Qualifications Applicants should possess: A university degree in law, human rights, international relations, project management, or a related field Experience managing donor-funded NGO projects Strong project planning and coordination skills Experience working with logical frameworks and budget monitoring Strong reporting and communication abilities Language Requirements Fluency in French is mandatory Working knowledge of English is required Preferred Experience Desirable qualifications include: Experience managing research projects Knowledge of child rights and child protection systems Familiarity with issues related to sexual exploitation of children Experience coordinating multicultural and cross-border teams The organization also values adaptability, integrity, and commitment to child safeguarding standards.
