The Nigerian Navy has announced its 2026 Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 39 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking enlistment into the Nigerian Navy. The recruitment is open to eligible Nigerian citizens by birth who meet the prescribed age, educational, physical, medical and other requirements. Applicants must also possess a National Identification Number (NIN). The Nigerian Navy has stated that the recruitment process is free of charge and warned applicants not to make payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms claiming to facilitate recruitment. What Is the Nigerian Navy Batch 39 Recruitment? The Nigerian Navy Basic Training School recruitment is an enlistment exercise through which qualified Nigerians are selected for basic military training and subsequent service in the Nigerian Navy. For Batch 39, successful applicants will undergo basic military training and, upon successful completion of the training, will be enlisted into the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen. The recruitment exercise includes applicants with different educational, technical, medical and specialist qualifications. The Nigerian Navy’s guidelines provide separate requirements for different categories. Who Can Apply for Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026? The Batch 39 recruitment is open to applicants who meet the requirements specified by the Nigerian Navy. Applicants must: Be Nigerian citizens by birth. Possess a National Identification Number (NIN). Meet the required age for their selected category. Meet the minimum height requirement. Be medically, physically and psychologically fit. Have no previous criminal conviction. Possess the educational or professional qualification required for the selected category. Be able to communicate in basic English. Meet any additional requirements applicable to their chosen category. Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026 Requirements Citizenship Requirement Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth. National Identification Number Requirement Applicants must possess a National Identification Number (NIN). The NIN is required as part of the recruitment and identity-verification process. Age Requirements The applicable age depends on the applicant’s qualification and selected entry category. Applicants applying with O’Level qualifications are required to be 18 to 22 years old as of 31 December 2026. The recruitment guidelines also provide separate age requirements for applicants applying with qualifications such as OND and NCE and for specific professional, trade and sporting categories. Applicants should therefore check the requirements for their chosen category before applying. Educational Requirements for O’Level Applicants Applicants applying through the O’Level route must possess at least five credits, including: English Language Mathematics The required credits must be obtained in not more than two sittings. The applicable O’Level qualifications include certificates such as: WAEC NECO NABTEB GCE Applicants seeking entry through specialist categories must also meet the additional educational or professional requirements for those categories. Height Requirements Applicants must meet the following minimum height requirements: Male: 1.69 metres Female: 1.65 metres Medical, Physical and Psychological Fitness Applicants must be medically, physically and psychologically fit for the recruitment exercise. The Nigerian Navy also requires applicants to have no previous criminal conviction. Basic English Requirement Applicants must be able to communicate in basic English. The Nigerian Navy stated that inability to communicate in basic English could result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment exercise. Single Application Requirement Applicants are permitted to submit only one valid application. The Nigerian Navy stated that multiple online applications will result in disqualification. Nigerian Navy Batch 39 Recruitment Categories The Batch 39 recruitment provides opportunities for applicants with different qualifications and skills. The recruitment guidelines provide specific requirements for categories including: O’Level/general entry OND and NCE holders Tradesmen and women Medical-related professionals Sportsmen and sportswomen Drivers and mechanics Other specialist categories specified in the recruitment guidelines. Applicants should select only a category for which they possess the required qualification. Nigerian Navy Recruitment Application Requirements Applicants should prepare their relevant personal identification, educational and supporting documents before beginning the application. The recruitment process requires successful applicants to print documents including: Acknowledgement form Parent/Guardian Consent Form Local Government Attestation Form Guarantor’s Certification Form Applicants should also have their relevant educational and identification documents available as required during the recruitment process. How to Apply for Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026 The Batch 39 application will be completed online through the Nigerian Navy’s official recruitment platform. Step 1: Visit the Official Nigerian Navy Recruitment Portal Visit the official Nigerian Navy recruitment portal when the Batch 39 application opens on 2 October 2026. Applicants should use only the recruitment portal and official Nigerian Navy communication channels. The Nigerian Navy has specifically warned applicants against relying on unofficial websites, social media accounts or individuals claiming to represent the service. Step 2: Check Your Eligibility Before completing the form, confirm that you meet the requirements for your selected category. Pay particular attention to: Age Educational qualification NIN Height Medical and physical requirements Professional or trade qualifications where applicable Step 3: Complete the Online Application Enter your personal, educational and other required information accurately. Applicants should ensure that the information supplied corresponds with their official documents. Step 4: Select the Appropriate Category Select the recruitment category that matches your qualification. Applicants should not apply for a category for which they do not possess the required qualification. Step 5: Submit the Application Review the information entered before submitting the application. Only one valid application should be submitted because the Nigerian Navy has warned that multiple applications will result in disqualification. Step 6: Print the Required Forms After successfully completing the application, applicants are required to print the relevant documents, including the acknowledgement, Parent/Guardian Consent, Local Government Attestation and Guarantor’s Certification forms.
