Following the rolling out of NADF nationwide training for 1,884 people: 1,110 Extension Agents and 774 Food Security Specialists, we noticed that some individual are asking on How To Become NADF Agric Extension Worker For GDEC Initiative. So we decided to create this post to give you an idea. So keep reading! There is no open public application or recruitment portal currently advertised for becoming a NADF Grassroots Digital Extension Corps (GDEC) extension worker. The program primarily builds capacity among existing or nominated agricultural extension personnel through targeted training rather than a broad hiring drive. Current Status of the Program (as of July 2026) NADF is rolling out nationwide training for 1,884 people: 1,110 Extension Agents and 774 Food Security Specialists. Training occurs in phases by geopolitical zone (started with North Central/FCT in Lafia; others to follow). Participants receive intensive sessions (e.g., 4 days) on digital extension, climate-smart agriculture, data collection, advisory services, and more, plus certification and a loaded digital tablet upon completion. How People Typically Join The initiative works in collaboration with: Public Health Federal Department of Agricultural Extension (FDAE) National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS) State Agricultural Development Programmes (ADPs) Other stakeholders Likely pathways (based on how the program operates): Existing Extension Workers — Current staff in state ADPs, federal extension services, or related agencies are selected/nominated for the training. Nominations through Partners — State governments, ADPs, or agricultural institutions recommend qualified individuals. Relevant Qualifications — Background in agriculture, agronomy, extension education, rural development, or related fields (often a degree or diploma) is expected. Strong communication skills and interest in digital tools are advantageous. Steps You Can Take 1. Monitor Official Channels Visit https://nadf.gov.ng regularly for news on new training batches or opportunities. Follow @nadfng on X (Twitter) and other social media. Check announcements from your state ADP or the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. 2. Contact Relevant Bodies Reach out to your State Agricultural Development Programme (ADP)office. Inquire with the Federal Department of Agricultural Extension (FDAE). Email or contact NADF directly via their website for guidance on future cohorts or related programs. 3. Build Relevant Skills/Qualifications Pursue education or experience in agricultural extension, digital agriculture, climate-smart practices, or rural advisory services. Gain field experience working with farmers or in agricultural NGOs/cooperatives.
