iMMAP is currently recruiting a Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Specialist for a home-based international consultancy position. Position Overview The Disaster Risk Management Specialist will serve as iMMAP’s principal focal point for disaster risk management initiatives worldwide. The selected consultant will provide strategic leadership across the organization’s DRM portfolio while strengthening partnerships with governments, donors, regional institutions, and humanitarian stakeholders. The position is fully remote and runs from 15 June 2026 to 31 December 2026, offering professionals the flexibility to contribute from anywhere while engaging with global humanitarian operations. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will lead and coordinate disaster risk management initiatives across multiple areas, including: Strategic Leadership Serve as iMMAP’s global focal point for DRM Guide organizational strategy on preparedness, resilience, response, and recovery Represent iMMAP in international disaster management forums and technical working groups Geospatial Innovation Lead the implementation of geospatial strategies for disaster risk management Support hazard monitoring, vulnerability mapping, and risk analysis Promote innovative GIS and spatial data solutions for decision-making Government and Institutional Engagement Strengthen relationships with National Disaster Management Authorities (NDMAs) Collaborate with regional organizations such as disaster management centers and coordination bodies Support institutional capacity-building initiatives Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Develop strategic partnerships with donors, NGOs, research institutions, and UN agencies Support business development efforts and proposal preparation Identify funding opportunities related to resilience and disaster preparedness Emergency Response Support Deliver technical training and capacity development programs Provide surge support during disaster response operations Contribute expertise during emergency deployments when required Who Should Apply? Eligibility Requirements Applicants should have: A Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management, Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Emergency Management, International Development, Humanitarian Affairs, Environmental Sciences, or a related field At least five years of relevant professional experience Experience supporting National Disaster Management Authorities and government institutions Strong GIS and geospatial analysis skills Experience in donor engagement, partnership development, and program design Training and capacity-building experience Previous deployment experience in humanitarian emergencies is considered a significant advantage.
