IMPACT is seeking an experienced and highly organised Program Coordinator to support the delivery of complex international development programmes across multiple regions. This full-time role is remote, with eligibility for candidates based in the Americas, Africa, or Europe, and a preference for those located in countries where IMPACT has an established office. The Program Coordinator reports to the Deputy Executive Director and plays a central management role, ensuring that projects are implemented effectively, remain compliant with donor requirements, and deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with IMPACT’s mission. The offer of employment and start date are contingent upon final donor approval. IMPACT is proactively identifying qualified candidates to enable rapid programme start-up once funding is confirmed. About IMPACT IMPACT works to transform how natural resources are governed in contexts where security, human rights, and equality are at risk. Through research, investigation, and programmatic intervention, IMPACT develops practical approaches that strengthen security, promote development, and advance equity. As an independent non-profit organisation, IMPACT partners closely with local actors to ensure sustainable, community-rooted change. Headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, the organisation operates across several countries, including Uganda, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zimbabwe. Role Overview The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of projects and creating the conditions necessary for country-based teams to succeed. This role acts as a bridge between national management, project teams, and partners, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and donor expectations. The Program Coordinator is accountable for project quality, compliance, coordination, and performance monitoring. By enabling strong collaboration and proactive problem-solving, the role ensures that IMPACT’s programmes deliver meaningful and measurable outcomes. Key Responsibilities Project Coordination and Quality Assurance (50%) Act as a central liaison between national management, project teams, and partners Communicate project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines clearly Support project managers in developing detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules using Results-Based Management (RBM) Organise and facilitate regular project meetings, ensuring follow-up on action items Monitor project progress, identify risks or delays, and propose solutions proactively Prepare clear, accurate, and timely narrative and financial reports for donors and senior management Review and approve project-related contracts in line with donor agreements and organisational standards Finance, Administration, and Human Resources (30%) Review and approve project expenditures to ensure budget alignment and financial accountability Collaborate with internal departments to manage contracting for project staff and consultants Conduct regular competency assessments for direct reports Support professional development through feedback, documentation, and learning opportunities Team Support and Organisational Stewardship (20%) Provide guidance and mentorship to staff, fostering positive and inclusive work environments Support team members in developing work plans and effective time management practices Assist teams with budget monitoring, reporting, and analysis using tools such as budget variance and actuals tracking Champion IMPACT’s organisational policies, including the Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policy, ensuring understanding and compliance across teams Essential Qualifications and Experience IMPACT is seeking candidates with a strong background in international development programme management and team leadership. Ideal candidates bring: An undergraduate degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Engineering, Business, Administration, or related fields At least 8 years of experience managing international development projects A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing diverse teams of staff and consultants Proven experience with donor reporting and compliance, particularly with donors such as Global Affairs Canada, the EU, UNEP, GIZ, or USAID Experience in monitoring and evaluation, with preference for familiarity with Results-Based Management frameworks Proficiency in professional software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, and cloud-based document systems Experience related to IMPACT’s thematic focus areas, including natural resource governance or artisanal and small-scale mining, is an asset Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) and working proficiency in Spanish Core Competencies Successful candidates consistently demonstrate: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities High levels of organisation, planning, and time management Comfort working in intercultural and multidisciplinary teams Integrity, professionalism, and strong ethical judgment Leadership grounded in motivation, accountability, and trust Attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance with standards Benefits and Work Environment IMPACT offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work within a dynamic, mission-driven organisation.
