Role Overview: Coordinator, Humanitarian Team The Coordinator will support the Humanitarian Team’s internal operations, external engagement, and policy coordination functions. The role works closely with senior leadership, including the Vice President of the Humanitarian Team and the Director of Protection. Key responsibilities focus on ensuring smooth coordination across working groups, policy engagement channels, and stakeholder networks. Core Responsibilities The position involves a wide range of coordination and administrative duties across humanitarian policy and advocacy workstreams. Key functional areas include: 1. Working Group Coordination Managing calendars, meetings, and agendas for 9 country working groups Liaising with co-chairs to ensure structured engagement Coordinating UN Partnership working groups with agencies such as UNHCR and WFP Supporting alignment of workplans across multiple stakeholder groups 2. Stakeholder Communication Managing communication channels including listservs, portals, and internal messaging systems Ensuring timely information flow across InterAction members Facilitating coordination between NGOs, UN bodies, and donors 3. Policy and Advocacy Support Supporting humanitarian advocacy initiatives and coordination logistics Collaborating with Policy and Government Relations teams on congressional engagement Ensuring alignment of advocacy priorities across working groups 4. Internal Coordination and Operations Supporting cross-team communication between humanitarian, policy, and communications teams Assisting with administrative tasks and senior staff coordination Supporting internal review processes for working group structures 5. Protection and Digital Content Support Supporting management of the Protection Website Updating and publishing materials as needed Assisting in documentation preparation and dissemination 6. Advisory and Event Coordination Supporting the Humanitarian Advisory Committee Scheduling meetings and drafting agendas Coordinating participation across multiple stakeholders Required Qualifications Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation in humanitarian systems, coordination, and administrative management. Minimum requirements include: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field At least 3 years of professional experience Strong understanding of humanitarian policy and advocacy Familiarity with humanitarian response systems and protection issues Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills Experience working in collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments Ability to manage fast-moving and complex workstreams Preferred Qualifications Additional competencies that strengthen candidacy include: Knowledge of the U.S. legislative and policy process Experience engaging with NGOs, UN agencies, and donor institutions Background in protection programming or advocacy Working knowledge of French or Arabic Experience in coalition-building or coordination roles Work Arrangement and Conditions This is a full-time hybrid position based in Washington, DC. Work structure includes: 2 days per week in-office 3 days per week remote telework Requirement to be based in the Washington, DC region The role requires consistent collaboration across teams, time-sensitive coordination, and engagement with international stakeholders.
